I totally disagree with everyone talking about DC being whatever it is and just wait... basically folks in DC, Tampa, and the other buried offices are being penalized for where they live

how the hell is that acceptable?

I understand your frustration, but that's as long as it takes (and it's likely to be shorter than 11 months). In the past, I-130s took even longer to process. Believe it or not, things have gotten better.

You can spend your time writing letters and emails and making phone calls and generally banging your head against a brick wall (because trust me, it will feel like that), but unless things get really out of normal processing times, your time is better spent preparing for the move. I think everyone here who's gone through the process can attest that it's a LOT more work to do the move than anyone expected.

Yes! I can attest to that. Mine took 14 months. I filled Feb 10,1012 and got NOA2 April 30,2013. No amount of calling and letter writing help. After a while, i gave up and never even bother to check on them again until one day i open my email and boom, that the approval email. It was like winning a lottery. I know how frustrating this is for you espeacilay that you are from the UK where these things take 1-2 months to get complete. In the US, its a totally different story. So my friend, spend you time doing something productive because no amount of calling will make the process faster.
