Pertaining to I-864: "noticed in the top right hand side of this form it says " OMB no. 1615-0075; expires 09/30/06" I see this one a lot, My question in return is if the form were REALLY expired why is it still on USCIS site?

Sorry Yu & Dan, but this is completely valid!!! It's expired, why wouldn't we think it was not to be used???

And KK, you are correct. I told someone to search timelines & was then told:

So I'll ask whatever I bloody well like on VisaJourney, so keep your nasty little opinions to yourself and stop being such a sanctimonious little prig. I bet you're a right pain to live with. How do people like you ever get married? I expect it's your type who end up divorced.

I would take a long hard look at why you need to start arguments with strangers - if you aren't married yet I guess you can't take your personality out on him yet. God, poor bloke.

I expect you're horrible in real life.

yeah, I'm in shock as well.

That comment they made was a bit out of line. but i do see alot of new comers getting upset when they do ask a question and 15 ppl jump on them for asking it. to someone new to doing anything with immigration can be scary, confusing and frustrating. since this is a visa forum, it is open for questions. no matter how stupid they are, they are a question of someone who is confused or just looking for assurance. no one should be bashing someone for asking a question pertaining to immigration. yes they could look it up in the guidelines, but lets face it, not everyone is perfect. if the question is "stupid" either dont answer it or answer the best you can, remember we were all confused by this process at one time or another.

There are better ways to go about making your disatisfaction known though. That comment was very personal.

already agreed with that. its understandable to get mad when no one seems to help but only mocks and makes fun of your question, but that person went to far and personal.

A BIT out of line????

I was not cruel in my reply to her. I did give her a timeline link! It's not hard to search them for CR-1s.

Wishing divorce on someone though?????? Calling me a horrible person & questioning my husband for marrying me - all because I didn't answer her question?????? It's hopefully a violation of TOS that will get her a ban. I'm not all flowers & light on VJ, but I do try to be helpful. Her comments were so far out of line I'm nauseous.

and i wasnt referring to anything YOU said to the person, it was for people in general. ive seen some people on here be extremely cruel to newcomers and their questions. you were not, they just chose you to pick on unfortunatly.

I understand that people post the same question because they didn't see the prior post, are too lazy to search, are completely confused and overwhelmed and just want help.

But seriously, a question about the impact of large tonsils on visa processing? Come on now . . . you don't need to read through the medical ineligibilities or anything on the forum to find the answer to that one or many of the related questions - you just need common sense!

(and personally bashing someone who refers them to the timeline function is WAY out of line).

HAHAHAHAHAH yes thats insane.

again as ive stated tho, with the enlarged tonsils aside, i was talking about real questions. not tonsil questions or will my fiance get approved even tho she has a tail growing from her #######. there are lazy ppl who dont want to research, or just so frustrated and see the answer in the guidelines but dont understand it and ask about it in the forum.

And therein lies the reason for my initial topic. Based on the other questions from these posters, they are real visa applicants and serious questions!!! It just really makes me wonder . . .

I was mean today.

I had already answered this guys question correctly in a different forum about 20 minutes before he posted it again.

Here's the question (for the second time) and my second answer.

I was granted an work authorization at POE at JFK Airport ....I know my work authorization will expire and I'll have to stop working until I get my new EAD, but if I do work now, get taxed and stop until I get a new EAD, should I worry about my AOS process? Is that something that I can do or will it ruin the whole process?

------------

No you can't work. They give you the EAD stamp so you get all confused, work illegally and then they boot you out of the country and never let you back.

Someone nice though pointed out to him that I was totally wrong. :D

Did that make you feel superior or give you a warm sense of satisfaction? Or is mocking ppl your 'thing'?

_______

IMO, the crazy questions can grate on stupid, but as it's been said before in this thread, some ppl just need assurances. I think it's time to remember how you felt when you first started the process....no you may not have asked the silly questions, but the lack of really knowing the information can be disconcerting to many.

If a question is too stupid to answer iyo...then just don't answer it....

It is pretty damm annoying though Lisa when one goes to the trouble of answering a question, even doing research on that question so one can link for the OP to read........and then you find the same question reposted by the same member and the only reason you can think of is that they didn't like the answers given. Well shute, if that aint a kick in the face. If you are coming to a msg board and are not going to take the advice given that include links to where they can research it themselves, then why the hell do we bother. The other day, I spent a lot of time in a thread with a new member, explaining things to her over and over and providing links. I was the only member responding to this particular thread. Guess what she posted same question again. I seriously had to contain myself from saying something. Would that of been making me feel superior or make mocking people my thing.....hell no. Sometimes certain new members do need a quick wake up call. This is not suppose to be a forum to be spoon fed the immigration process with only answers one wants to hear. There is a big difference between asking what may seem like a stupid question, then posting the exact same question again, after members have already spent time in answering them, yet they choose to ignore.

Edited to add: I have spent much time especially with new members and I have a lot of patience as I do understand how confusing this whole process can be. I'm not complaining one bit about doing that, otherwise I wouldn't still be here. I do however get annoyed when that is thrown back in my face at times. If someone can do what I can't and usually don't, and say something when that happens, that is totally understandable IMO.

With all the myths, urban legends and old wives tales on this site and others, I can understand why there are some 'odd' questions. There is some scary information out there that is plain ol' wrong.

As for those that are tired of repeat questions, perhaps it's time to take a break from answering them.

Sheesh, its folks like that give we Brits a bad name. At least I can be happy in the knowledge that we Scots are at least nice and actually welcomed in Europe during World Cup events... :D

On a complete aside, Mags, I have to say that you cheered me up no end today because when I saw your picture of the little kitty with the sad face, it cracked me up and made me go "awww", it was so cute. Thanks for making me laugh when the strain of the FBI name check delay is starting to make me so stressed I want to cry. (((hugs)))

Absolutely. Part of the problem is that if you're new, almost everything is confusing. Part of the problem is also that if you're new, you're unlikely to know the lingo. Do you search for AP, or Advance Parole? (You also can't search for a short string, which makes some of the acronyms hard to look for.) No, it's not that hard. Yes, you read the guides. But you hear horror stories (or get misinformation on and offline), and now suddenly you start to worry that because you have large tonsils you'll get denied.

Common sense? Well, maybe. But common sense is often wrong. Common sense tells my parents, for example, that I don't really need to do this visa process because C. is Canadian and really, can't you still get there with a driver's license? People who don't do this process are floored that we need to show proof of a relationship. ("do they want you to have sex on the desk or what?") Common sense would say that I really don't need to submit an I-134 because I'm unlikely to end up on welfare based statistically on my education level ('won't they see that you're at Big Honking U?') Common sense would say that a twenty-year-old shoplifting crime shouldn't mean your visa is denied. Common sense dies a hard death at the Department of State.
