Even cheaper would be vonage in the UK providing you have broadband....they're starting to offer free calls to the US....the monthly fee is 7 quid only. That's also nat'l free calls as well.

For 3 quid more you can get a virtual number.....D has one starting with my area code. So it's a local call for me no matter where I am :) And if he's not home, they have a call divert feature where I go into his acct and change the configuration to ring where ever he is. No, fwding to mobbies isn't free, but it's ok

No probs with it whatsoever! Cept on the website, instead of 'rings your phone' they have listed 'ring's your phone' which really gets on my last nerve, lol

BUT

there's also a referral program where both parties get free months or summat, so hook a sistah up :) lol

I've used justdial.com for ages. Not bad price wise. My Dad, who lives in Malta, uses the internet for phone calls. REALLY cheap. Probably similar to Lisa's suggestion of Vonage.

Can't beat the net for cheap phone calls.

True, but you have to be at home to use the net. With something like just dial you can make a call from any phone and if you have free mins on your mobile then it becomes free to call just dial (I beleive).

For the 6 months between me proposing in usa and me arriving back in the usa on the K1 we used webcams as often as possible. You can get a really good one for around $100 and then you can see each other as well as hear ecah other. Made a really big difference and now I use it to talk to my parents. A little less frequently though.

I use skype and would swear by it completely free calls to anyone to any country providing they have skype as well. Trust me it's saved a fortune off my phone bill.

Also another way is to go to the post office and buy a phonecard that way you can keep a tally of exactly how much money you are spending and limit yourself lol.

my partner has vonage in the US as she was looking for a phone service anyone and we saw the free to the UK bit for $25 a month ($20 for first 6 months).

its saved us a lot, but the quality can go down when your heavily using the net at the same time.
