Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

I get the feeling you are disappointed that there has been a drastic reduction in the homicide rate. Why?

I read this and thought..."Good news!" Less young black men being murdered, less women being killed. Is it wrong to celebrate a nearly 50% reduction in homicides? huh.png

Yet gun deaths have steadily climbed. This is a fact more to the subject at hand.

Oh well, best to keep pushing the fallacies. The stats I found for homicide rates between 1995 and 2011 were more like a 25% reduction as well but. ..

You sound just like the gun nuts you criticize, only on the opposite side of the fence. I know it is a difficult concept, but the majority of gun owners are responsible with their firearms. I am a responsible gun owner who has a LTC, large capacity for all legal purposes. I am also an "gasp" assault weapon owner. I also "gasp" enjoy shooting and have since I was a child. I can get up during the night to take a piss and I can walk to my mailbox without a gun. Imagine that? I have no problem having my background checked. I have no problem with a special license to carry. I had to pass a test to get my drivers license. Ditto for my real estate, construction supervisor and various other licenses I hold. I have to take continuing ed classes to renew and keep those licenses active.

See. I'm a normal gun owner.

This is very logical and I wish more people like you. But it's also fair to say that if more people were responsible drivers, we wouldn't need seat belt laws, road blocks, or speed limits.
