Is spamming acceptable on VJ?

If not, take a look at the game forum. It's nearly impossible for anyone to participate because two accounts (one person) are spamming the threads. They are literally posting at least 10 times a minute to up their post count.

By the time I write a reply and post it, it's nearly off the page because they've already responded another 6 or 7 times.

These are the same accounts that give each other reputation points when playing the five-word version of VJ scrabble. Reputation points and post counts have long lost their essence and credibility on this site.

It's a shame that this is allowed to go on. Those two accounts are one person (one accidentally posted under the other in P&R) and they do nothing but spam their threads.

I didn't get one, no.

My post got removed for saying it was a bot. But the spamming stays.

Absolutely hilarious how my one post, which wasn't a "personal attack" was removed SO QUICKLY.

But let's leave the pages and pages of spam.

Here's what I don't understand: it's against TOS to infringe on others' enjoyment of the forums. I just looked at that colour thread, and before this morning people are amiably posting over the course of a few days. Then BAM! 20 pages in a 1 hour period. No one else gets a chance to post. How is that not infringing on others' enjoyment? People see 20 pages of just 2 people posting and think, what's the point? Why participate?

I like how mods are going over to that thread now, but deleting everything BUT the problem.

I thought the "20 pages in an hour" thing was an exaggeration. But no. They literally posted 20 pages of spam in one hour.

It's ok for certain users to infringe. And if you criticize, you'll be penalized. Admin has allowed this with this particular user since day one. It is a private game forum once again.

Unless Admin can validate that the two accounts you are referring to are using an automated script to generate their posts and/or are generating posts from the same computer, Admin must assume the two accounts represent two normally posting individuals.

Frankly, if it was any of us, we'd want Admin to give us the same benefit of the doubt.

If the mere act of people posting infringes on the enjoyment of other people, then that clause in TOS loses meaning.

Let's say Ewok set up a basketball court for your enjoyment. You, I and a bunch of other clumsy mofos play. We have fun. Then a couple of guys who know what they're doing show up and suddenly we're standing on the side watching as they whiz by us. They're so fast our eyes can't keep up! What does Ewok do? Court-ban (thread ban) them?

Or does Ewok tell you to up your game?

This assumes the new players who forced us out aren't using steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

Unfortunately, when the admin created the subforum for games, they didn't specify rules or guidelines on what games should be. They simply moved all the threads with the title "new game" from OT to GWYW. What's the time, write a number, and what's the temperature are still games. It's only a matter of time when somebody starts a new game titled, "look at your drawer and write down the colors of your socks and underwear."
