Hello everyone :)

I was talking to my fiance lately, and he mentioned that he would like to get married in California. And that made me wonder, since I already stated in my petition, that I will be living in Washington state, does that matter, where we will actually get married (which state)? Does it have to be Washington, or could be any other state?

You can marry wherever you want, however, requirements differ by state and you need to consider that as it could take longer/shorter. We married in Colorado (though reside in TX) because we wanted to do it ourselves (that is, not priest, licensed officiant, etc). In some states you need a blood test, etc.

We live in Missouri - got married in Wisconsin. Like everyone else has stated - check the requirements and - Make sure you get the official copy of your marriage certificate or know what you need to do to get it. Some places will get it to you right away - others can take a couple of weeks. You will want it as soon as possible for AOS.
