Thanks Veronica!

We are preparing and finishing the form tonight. We are trying to complete the form in dropbox, I don't know if sending it written in black ink would be okay. Thanks so much for clarifying form I-864 does not need to be filed yet. I haven't filed taxes in the USA at all, since 2010.

I better seek out an accountant to make sure that I don't have to separately file taxes even if I am just a stay at home mom. Guess that is all really for now, I am a bit excited and nervous about starting this process. goofy.gif

Quick question: I am confused, do I need to send the form G-325A as well with the I-130. It says that is for Spouses. Also should I include my daughters birth certificate?

I am wondering if there are any other sneaky forms to fill out! cray5ol.gif

Yes, you should include your daughter's birth certificate! That adds to the PROOF of your marriage.

And if you have been a stay at home mom and had no income, then you are not required by the US IRS to file taxes. You can attach a letter to your I-864 (later, when it's needed) stating the exact reasons why you were not required to file. This is what I did, as I have spent the majority of my 5 years in Germany unemployed or made too little to be required to file.

I don't have it bookmarked on my computer anymore, but if you search the forums, you an find examples of that letter. I can add mine, too, if you need it.

I resided in Germany from July 2008-October 2013.

I have two stepsons who are staying in Germany.

Okay, here is the letter that I attached to my I-864.

August 14, 2013

Case Number: FRN XXXXXXXX

To Whom It May Concern:

I am VeronicaVonn, Mr. Vonn’s wife and petitioning sponsor. I did not file an income tax return for the years 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012 because I either did not work during those years, or my income was so low, that it was not required to do so.

Once I moved to Germany, I have found it extremely difficult to find a job. Because of that, I spent most of my time as a homemaker. I did, however, have occasional part-time temporary jobs. These were very low-paying jobs and, as such, I was not required to file my taxes with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). I was maintained by my husband’s income the entire time I lived in Germany.

If requested, I can show proof of my income for the aforementioned years.

Thank you very much,

VeronicaVonn

You plan on filing at the Dropbox? If so I dont recommend it as it takes a lot longer than filing through the consulate.

So we dropped the I-130 off today at the post office. Thanks Veronica for the file letter, all I will do is just state the facts. I am a stay at home mom... which is really normal here in Munich. Harris, no I filed through Frankfurt consulate. I need to update my timeline and I will let you know when I hear back.

In the meantime I am going to start filling out all the other forms to have ready.

YAY for getting the process started! I am also a stay at home mom, so I really do understand. :)

Update your timeline and keep in touch with us! There seem to be a good handful of us at different points in the DCF process right now, but it's great being able to converse with each other about the whole thing.

Thanks VV! We are excited, we are wondering how long this will take, but it seems to move along swiftly...are there any things I should be doing now to prepare? Will you be traveling with your husband to Frankfurt for the interview?

And how do I show my timeline on the bottom of my posts? lol. I know lots of newbie questions. tongue_ss.gif

From what I have seen, if everything is done properly with no issues. It takes about 4 months. Start getting the next set of paperwork ready (NOA2/Packet 3). Here's the checklist for that. Nevermind the file is too big to upload on this site. If you give me your email address I'll email it to you. For me, I'll be attending the interview with my wife. After you receive notice that your petition has been approved, you are told (in a letter) to go to the website and complete steps 3-7.

Here is step three, which will lead you to the rest of the steps.

And yes, I plan on going with my husband to the interview. Not only will it probably calm his nerves a little bit by having me/us (our son is coming as well), but it will look MUCH better to USCIS if the petitioner (spouse) and child are there. It gives them a chance to see that we definitely are real.

Hi everybody,

we just received an "approval notice of relative immigrant visa petition" from the USCIS. (SO HAPPY!!)

There is no mention of ds-230 and we don`t have a case number.

Should we now wait for a letter from the Department of State (consular section) before sending the documents from step 3-7?

What should we do?

Thanks!!

Anton

We just got home from Berlin. Husband's medical is done! Woohoo! They said the results from the blood test should be done in a week, and that's when they will send it to Frankfurt. So we're thinking it'll be 2-3 weeks until we get an interview date. I'm excited that we're almost done!

That's odd. Why don't you send an e-mail to the Frankfurt office asking them what to do?
