Another question, because I am a stay at home mom/homemaker, and I am filling out I-864, should my husband prepare the I-864A, it is unclear to me. I have searched the forum and it says the Sponsors sponsor? Thanks.

Hi Skyla,

unfortunately your husband can't cosponsor you/himself, unless he works for US or pays US taxes (don't think he is, since a visa needed) OR he has a BIG saving acc. I belief it was $60K (but could be more depend on the family size)

you guys will have to find you a cosponsor (states side) but you still will need to fill out the I-864( put a small note to it why you didn't file taxes) and the cosponsor will have to fill it out too, send his/her W2, 1040 and pay scrubs

hire you can see how much you need for your family size, 3 ppl you need to proof 125 % (military 100%)

so for your family you have to have $23,863 (it has to say on the W2 form, not the gross income)

http://www.liheap.ncat.org/profiles/povertytables/FY2013/popstate.htm

wish you all the best and good luck

You can find the USCIS guidlines for income here. They are higher than the above posted link: http://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

Thanks Mark,

so you must have at least $ 24,412 on W2 (for 3 ppl)

you can have more than just 1 cosponsor, they must just be willing to send all required forms/documents to you.

Or assets for about $100K if you don't have income at all would do, too.

Hey, I think we are ok with assets and my husbands income as well. We are well above that threshold and will just file that as such. If not, I do have a co-sponser if needed. We got our file number and our filing online the DS-260 now.

Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding the I-I30 submission in person at the consulate in Frankfurt.

Instruction for filing states appointments to file in person can be made through the Infopass. So far so good... How soon can I request an Infopass appointment? We're hoping (all fingers crossed) to get married the week before Christmas. Still waiting on some documents approval right now tho, so it's not 100 % sure we'll still make it this year. On the other hand we're running out of time (in Germany) and I don't want to waste any more time in waiting for the infopass appointment after we finally got married. Can I now apply for an appointment in early January already? Any thoughts? We sure as h*** don't want to miss our chance to go through DCF ;):)

Thanks a lot

Honeypie : Yes, we are done !

@Babies Girl: Then i remember my wife made the Info Appointment two weeks in advance. Try the side for the Infoappointment( https://infopass.uscis.gov/infopass.php ) and u will see wich dates are allready available or gone. So was it last July, perhaps they have changed this... i dont know...

Normaly u can go to the Infopass directly a day after the wedding (then u get the date )for the petition I-130, nice honeymoon , why not :-)!

We had the Infopassappointment 5 days after our wedding. Bring some stuff that proof ur Marriage, looks like u being short marriaged like us,also!

Go for it!

Hi baydaho,

thanks for the link and congrats on your approval :-)

I tried to get an appointment for early/middle january 2014 but for some reason it seems like I can only choose a date for the current month (december) :-( So I guess I have to wait til the 1st...

Marriage is going to take place on the 19th :-D Fingers still crossed...

Thanks for your feedback

I have a question to all who did DCF in Frankfurt: When you mailed in the I-130, did you include evidence of bona fide marriage? I'm wondering if I should include evidence or not (or just take it with me for the interview).

Also, when I mail in the I-130, do I have to include a prepaid return envelope? It doesn't mention this on the checklist.

09/10/2014 - U.S. entry (became permanent resident)
