I believe the procedure is the same as for a brother or sister, you file only the I-130 petition, the I-485 is only for adjusting status.

See the sibling guide to get an idea in how to file: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=ussibpet

I'm a US citizen, over 18, with two parents in Russia -- question, can I file the the I-485 at the same time as the I-130, or do I need to wait for the I-130 approval and then file the I-485?

Thanks,

Terry

I do believe that you have to be 21 in order to file for parents.

You file the I-130's, they file the I485 since they are the ones adjusting status, assuming they are in the country. If not, no I-485 is required.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

As I mentioned, they are in Russia, so you are saying that no I-485 is needed? I'm confused here...

You need to be over 21 years old and a USC to file for your parents.... you file I-130 for each parent and then they follow the same path as a IR1 see guide at the top.... once they are approved in their home country they enter the US as Greencard holders and can work and travel from the day they enter....

One thing to bare in mind is the cost of medical insurance for older parents it is not cheap and the will not be entitled to medicare...

First, you have to be at least 21 years of age. Secondly, you need to file one I-130 petition for each parent and you don't file I-485, since they are not in USA. Please read those links that the Aussie provided.

Yodrak,

I put 'over 18' because most of the replies ask if someone was over 21 (I mistakenly put over 18). You might realize that 45 is over 18 -- for goodness sakes, this is ambiguous and misleading? Did you actually read my original post? The real question was about filing the 485 with the 130...

roymcn3rd,

You also need to lighten up...I put a "Thanks" in my first message, I wasn't aware of your personal requirements in this forum for the timeframe in which a poster needed to provide a "thanks"

To those who actually read my initial post message and gave a civil reply,

I give you all a sincere thanks. I can see that this board isn't quite the place I expected, so I'll delete my account and look elsewhere for information

Terry
