Like bulldozing the family house after the suicide attack.

Sounds like a reasonable move. Personally I would let terrorist know that if the commit terrorism we will hunt down your family and make a parking lot ot of your village. I promise you that would put the brakes on it.

They should use that tactic here in the U.S. You know if someone gets caught stealing, they should cut off the parent's hand. Seems fair.

I never figured you to be a terrorist sympathizer. That is their mantra after all. Punish innocent people for crimes they have not committed.

Sorry but Israel is always at fault, for everything, is a dog that won't hunt. Jews were merrily booted, without compensation, from most every Muslim country in the area. A little healthy paranoia on the part of Israelis is quite simple to understand.

The best opportunity to make a new, self-governing nation by the Palestinians was long ago. It is still possible and I hope they achieve it. But Israel is hardly the only reason that they don't have one now.

You must have missed some of those cool maps WoM posts now and then. Maybe she'll be nice enough post one in this thread.

Big difference between healthy paranoia and outright kicking people off of their land. I see what you're saying. Since Jews have been treated badly over the years, it's the Israeli's turn for a little payback. All with the full support of the U.S. govt.

ETA: I think you have your first statement wrong. Should read "Israel is NEVER at fault"

You got it. After that, it becomes a battle of wills - see who blinks first, see who the world condemns more. This is why belligerents spend so much effort in dehumanizing their enemies - it makes it so much easier for the world to accept the causalities of war.

No I didn't say that Israel is never wrong. In fact quite the opposite in another thread regarding the announced further settlements.

I have no rose colored glasses on. However the lack of a true self governing Palestine is far from "all Israels fault. "

Sorry, my point is that religion makes suicide attacks more of an option. Not that religion causes suicide bombers. As pointed out above, Christians also are quite capable of carrying out suicide bombings. I'm saying the vast majority of people who will end their life in the name of whatever cause are going to be comforted (somewhat) by the notion of an afterlife.

Palenstinian suicide bombings are (by the numbers) mostly going to be carried out by Muslims. In Lebanon, some were Christians. Doesn't matter what religion to me, they're all being tricked in my mind. Are we assuming socialists and communists cannot be religious? Fight if you must, but don't throw your life away because its all you have.

This is a logical fallacy. The fact that many suicide bombers in Palestine were carried out by Muslims (who are the majority of the Palestinian population) does not add up to your conclusion that "religious people" are more willing to be suicide bombers.

Read Robert Pape, linked above, who has done the most extensive study of suicide bombings. He explains in detail why your theory does not pan out - pay particular attention to the section on the absence of suicide bombers in overwhelmingly Muslim countries which are not occupied by foreign forces.

Hold up.

Who did the "booting" first ?

According to your logic, Arab countries are justified to have this "healthy paranoia" about Jews, and may be summarily excused for any discrimination or crimes against them, as they occured AFTER the Zionists ethnically cleansed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes.

Israel's ruling party is committed to NEVER allowing an independent Palestinian state, at least not anywhere in Palestine. And Israel has done everything it can to prevent one. You need to recognize that, as much as it may hurt.

Israel's idea of a Palestinian state (marked in red):

v4m2kn.jpg

With no contiguity

No military

No control of its airspace

No control of its seacoast

No control of its borders

No control of movement of people or goods from one Palestinian urban area to the next

No control of anything

A captive population to be completely manipulated, controlled and exploited by Israel

Completely dependent on the crumbs that Israel deigns to drop to them

(Gaza to be cut off entirely and its population squeezed out into Egypt or points beyond)
