Bad idea for Obama to campaign on something and not deliver. No doubt a first for a politician. The question should be, if Obama could make an executive order closing Gitmos, who here would support it? Well conservatives?? Why not?

I can't think of a reason to keep it open. I guess the only reason it's there is so they can hold people without charging them with a crime. Kinda makes us the same as the Israelis if you ask me. Not a good thing.

Not at all unless I missed the privatization of Social Security. I remember a recent President campaigning on that issue twice.

And nobody wants these detainees - most of them are cleared for release with nowhere to go. So what do you do with them? Release them into the US? That would be political suicide. You can't release them into the Atlantic either. So what do you do with them?

Yes, Yemen, for example. More than 50 of the 80+ cleared for release detainees are Yemeni. But there are concerns that these detainees might consider joining AQAP once in Yemen and take up the cause against the US. Can't quite figure out why they possibly would want to do that after having enjoyed US hospitality for a decade for so or apparently no reason at all.

First of all, I wasn't talking about you. I was making my statement towards the various news outlets and websites that are reporting about these things now, but when then were happening under GWB, they either kept quiet or supported it then.

I don't think all critisim leveled towards Obama is racism, just the ones that call him a tar baby, boy, lazy, food stamp, shuck and jive, doesn't know how to be American.
