So you're for more gun laws and the enforcement of them? If you want illegals out...how about locking up those employing them? That will dry up most of the reasons they even come here.

There are few if any real gun laws...its about time we put up or shut up on the irresponsible sale's of deadly weapons. This is yet another reasons conservatives make little sense when towing the party line.

No gun laws, yet they spend all their time contemplating what a woman does with her body and how exactly they'll allow her to decide if she'll keep a pregnancy or not.

It's ridiculous and a huge reason that party is falling apart.

It's becoming obvious to me that you don't pay attention around here. There's all kinds of gun laws in this country. Surprisingly, criminals rarely obey them. Per my previous posts, some drugs are illegal, and yet this country is full of them.

I thought I read somewhere that he was denied buying a firearm at some point.

I thought the article presented talked about how he could buy a gun legally anyways - in pieces over the internet with instructions and all. What's the point of barring someone from acquiring a firearm when that same person can then go online and buy the weapon online? Right, there's no point. There are too many loopholes in the law - and these loopholes are there by design. So that we can pretend that laws just aren't enforced.

There are all kinds of holes in the gun laws. No person that sold any of the parts to the shooter broke the law even if the shooter was ineligible to purchase a firearm. It's "NO, you can't have a gun but YES you can buy all the parts required and the instructions to assemble the very gun you are not allowed to acquire". What kind of stupid law is that?.

There's that guy that made a gun with a 3-D printer. Are we supposed to outlaw 3-D printers? A gun as far as I know is just some metal parts with a few springs. They had cannons around in the 1300s.

Without even touching on the publicly available aspect, which I disagree with you on, but what do you think they do or will do with the collection? Use it as bragging rights only?

The explanation given is that they are using the data to create a searchable database (imagine that) which can be searched for which cell numbers from outside the US are accessing the networks in the US, when (over a period of two years, or more) and what cell numbers in the US they contacted, and perhaps trace from those cell numbers, who may have been contacted in the US.

So what do you do when these parts or materials have dual uses? I know that wasn't the case in this situation.

You're side-stepping the issue at hand. Outlaw 3-D printers? #######? Did I suggest that we should outlaw steel mills? No. What I am saying is that gun parts ought to fall under the very same regulation as the gun. If you are not eligible to purchase a firearm, then you ought not to be eligible to purchase an part thereof. Or any ammunition, for that matter. Believe it or not, there aren't many people out there that can make an AR-15 out of raw steel in their garage. There are many that can assemble one if given the parts and instructions. Don't play dumb.

So. He failed a background check and obtained a gun that was illegal in the place he lived.

More laws more laws

The many many laws he already broke are not enough

All laws get broken by somebody. So let's get rid of the laws, right?

"When guns are outlawed..."

Evidently, supposed law abiding gun owners have no problem making that favorite bumper stick reality. Otherwise, they would be helping the lawmakers find ways to close all these "loopholes" they seem so willing to take advantage of.

I see you're going to back to your usual policy. When losing an argument, bring out the name calling. Only took until page 3.

I never stated that you suggested outlawing printers or steel mills. My point is how far up the manufacturing process do you go? What's considered a "gun part?"

ETA: I am not losing the argument here, btw. Haven't called you any names either. I merely asked to not play dumb.

What is considered a gun part? Well, all that goes into making the gun a gun. All I am saying is that it's outright ridiculous to say that one cannot buy a firearm for reason xyz but one can purchase a disassembled firearm with instructions to assemble it no questions asked. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I don't know how that approach could ever make sense to anyone.

That looks alot like the instructions I got last year to assemble a computer desk. Except the instructions I got were in Chinese.
