Fires, floods, elections, checks lost in the mail and missing dogs and cats are often blamed on "Global Warming" or "Global Climate Change" ...and the recent fires in Colorado were no different, but then...

Fire investigators have ruled out "natural causes" and have determined the fires were caused by people.

Now I realize this will just be the catalyst (big word alert...google it) for logic such as..."Global warming causes people to do stupid things" or "Global warming causes arson" or "Global warming is caused by people also!" or "there is 5 times more global warming in Canada than Ukraine"

However, I am willing to give credit where credit is due and proclaim that "President Obama and the Democratic controlled Senate have fixed global warming!"

Now before anyone responds...

I do not hate Colorado, mailmen, dogs, cats, Canada, Ukraine, or elections.

Gary shows once again that he is unable to read. Figures. From the quoted article:

So no, Global Warming does not make people do stupid things - though it seems to make you post really stupid stuff - but it does make these wildfires whether started by natural or human causes so much bigger, faster spreading and thus harder to control and contain.

Investigators have not ruled out or determined any cause(s) at this time. Unlikely they will for some time. The quote you posted is the sheriff saying the victims did not likely die of natural causes. He was not speculating on the cause of the fires.

Given record temperatures, ongoing drought conditions and numerous lightning strikes experienced leading up to these fires, I wouldn't be too surprised by "natural causes".

The June 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire was determined to be human-caused, but investigators still haven't identified how it started.

The point is that no matter what started the fire, the hot and dry conditions are what makes these fires so violent and so impossible to control and contain. We have more of these fires getting ever larger burning ever longer because of the heat and drought conditions that are caused by Global Warming.

Actually I didn't notice the link - I saw the sheriff on the news earlier talking about the victims. He also stated on the newscast that he wasn't going to speculate on the cause of the fire at this time. Maybe something changed, but last I heard the fire investigators had not even determined the origin point yet, much less the cause.

Actually it was the same guy you quoted, Sheriff Maketa, who said just 2 days that he would not speculate on the cause of the fire. So whether he continues to speculate or doesn't or decides to keep flip-flopping like Romney, it doesn't really matter. The real fire investigators have not yet determined what caused any of these fires.

On the other hand, they are damn sure what the major contributing factors are. Very little dissent in that area. Record high temperatures, prolonged drought, and storms that have been bringing high winds and lightning with very little precipitation. All your psycho-babble doesn't change any of that, so granted although no one is ever quite sure what your mission really is, it still appears you have not accomplished it. As usual.

we never had Forrest fires before Al Gore invented the Internet and Global warming. So logically it would be Al Gores fault.

Honestly a lot of Global Warming proponants need to think more about what they say before they say it. By proponants I'm not talking about the scientists either..I'm talking about the activists who say BS that their scientists are not saying.

I was watching the gun control show on CNN-aka the Piers Morgan show-right after Hurricane Sandy, and he had the ever insiteful Michael Moore on to gets his thoughts on that subject and others. So MIchael Moore says "if this doesn't prove that Global Warming isn't real, then nothing will ever convince people".

This was after climatologists aready publicly said Global Warming was not the culprit. And why would it be? What climatologists are warning about is the effects an increase of about 4 degrees celcius in our average temperature would have on our planet. They are estimating that we should try to stay under 450 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere so that we don't rise more than 2 degrees c in the next 100 year because we should be able to deal with that.

So, have CO2 levels risen? Yes- they just passed the 400 ppm mark. But, remember it is not CO2 directly that anybody is saying will change the environment- its rising temperatures. So before you go to say rising CO2 levels are having an impact you have to first prove that temperatures have risen significantly, and they really haven't. They are on the rise, but if we can't survive the amount that temperatures have fluctuated over the past century then we will never survice an increase of 2 degrees! Since 1950 our temperatures have only risen by about 0.6 degrees. (I started at 1950 because surely nobody is arguing that the affects of CO2 in the air were doing anything significant before that). So are we to believe that our planet cannot flucuate 0.5 degrees over a 50 year period without major hurricanes and tornadoes happening? Am I supposed to believe a 0.74 degree change over a 100 year period has never happened while humans were on the earth? Come on now.

And by the way, what more can we do? Right now CO2 emissions from the U.S are at the lowest level they have been Since 1992. The Kyoto Protocal called for levels to return to the 1990 levels so heck, we have silently almost achieved that- but wait! CO2 levels in the atmosphere continue to rise. What's going on? What's going on is that the U.S cannot control what developing countries are doing and will continue to do and unfortunately this creates a huge problem for people who just want to believe that the U.S is the biggest, baddest evil and is almost single handedly destroying the planet.

We are doing a good job, and I think we will continue to, but if people keep exaggerating the effects of something that might actually be real, more people are going to stop taking this seriously.
