Non-government work in the DC metro area

So we've been in DC for a while now, and it's just IMPOSSIBLE! My husband is a software engineer, which is very in demand... but in this area, basically all those types of jobs require a security clearance. It's incredibly frustrating to see a great job ad and then BOOM, he needs a clearance.

Anyone have any advice on private sector/non clearance-requiring tech jobs in the DC area? I don't know if we're just not looking in the right places.

You need to stay away from all defense companies and make sure any recruiter understands that you can't work jobs requiring a clearance. Where you are that will make finding work much harder. Has he tried utility , banking or medical companies ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
