Right, but my question is regarding the W-2s. Do they want the actual W-2s that your employer sends at the end of the year? Or can you use the ordered W-2 TRANSCRIPTS the IRS can print out for you (these are different than the tax return transcripts - they have all the W-2 information on them, like employer ID number, etc) instead of the W-2s that your employer sends out?

I hope I'm being clear about my question, because it doesn't seem to be answered in the replies I'm getting in this thread.

That I do not know as I did not go that route. but reading the very short directions, they only mention tax returns for self employed. Take a look:http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134instr.pdf

Nice, I see that. Thanks. Is it the same for the I-134?

I would advise you go to the USEM website. Go to the immigrant visa section then to Forms & Packets. Access the K1 instructions. it's a PDF file. The instructions clearly list all the the requirements for the interview. We organized all of our interview documents using these instructions which come directly from the USEM. The instructions require IRS 1040 and W2 as part of " Evidence of Support" not as part of the I134. The I134 is also a requirement of the "Evidence of Support"

Now back to your original question...I don't know if IRS tax transcripts are an acceptable substitute for w2's. You didn't ask about substitution for the 1040, you asked about substitution for W2's right?

I asked about substitution for W-2s, yes, but NOT with IRS tax transcripts. The IRS can also provide for you what they call "Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement" if you order them, which is a transcript showing all the info in all the W-2s that you received for a given tax year, such as employer ID#, amounts witheld, etc. You can order them using the same order form that you use when ordering tax transcripts from the IRS, provided in the link I posted in the OP. This is what I was asking if you could replace the W-2s with.

I assume that you can replace 1040s with tax transcripts, though, yes?

From your link, please keep in mind:

8. Form W-2, Form 1099 series, Form 1098 series, or Form 5498 series transcript. The IRS can provide a transcript that includes data from these information returns. State or local information is not included with the Form W-2 information. The IRS may be able to provide this transcript information for up to 10 years. Information for the current year is generally not available until the year after it is filed with the IRS. For example, W-2 information for 2010, filed in 2011, will not be available from the IRS until 2012.
