Hi.. have a Georgia driver's licence which has just expired. However, I moved to Florida to look for a new job whilst awaiting the renewal/extension of my EAD which is still saying processing after a month. However, I have a car and need to drive in Florida. I tried to get my FL driver's licence and was told that I have to wait on EAD card/renewal, even though I can work for 3 months whilst awaiting new EAD card. Surely I must be able to obtain a FL driver's licence so I can work whilst awaiting my newly renewed EAD card?

Every state has different rules on issuing a driving license to aliens.

Try looking at the website for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Florida. It might help you discern if the clerk you spoke with gave incorrect info.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
