Matters little what others did.

Seems you are looking at opposite sides of a same coin, you don't want a church wedding without your parents .. yet you want to deny your fiance that very thing. You could do a second ceremony later when you both go back to the Phils.. a renewal of vows for your family.

With that said I am not big on "outsiders" forcing their well on a couple (outsiders being his extended family this time), you and your fiance should be the sole individuals making this decision. Today they push a big wedding, tomorrow they push...... ????

You and your fiancé need to have a serious sit down talk.

i'm wondering how can u get u married in church if the number one requirement of K1 visa is to get married within 90days since u step the US soil and church wedding required 6MONTHS seminar????

so it's very doubtful to get married in church..unless u guys married first in civil wedding and church later on.

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

OP:Have you thought about parents trying to get a B2 for the wedding in the US?

I don't want to get wed without my parents too but if our plan A doesn't work (which is to get my parents, grandma, and/or siblings tourist visa and attend the wedding) we will have a second wedding in the Philippines. Maybe you and your fiance could have something like that too.

We had a small, intimate wedding at the poolside of our house. We were all dressed formally, as if it was a grand wedding. Since my folks from the Philippines could not make it, we just did set up the Skype video on from start to finish of the celebration. We just made sure that someone had an eye on it for my family to have a good view on everything that was happening. And it worked just fine.

Just sharing... ?

We decided to take the middle road between a "real" wedding and a trip to the magistrate's office.

Tomorrow, we're getting married in a nice little formal ceremony at a rural bed and breakfast. There will still be flowers, music, rings and cake...but not much more. We're still planning on the grande sized wedding in the Philippines next year...but for our government mandated quickie marriage, the bed and breakfast seemed like a nice way to go.
