I know exactly how you feel. We were stuck there ourselves, for nearly 8 weeks. They don't seem to take as long as that now. I went ahead and got all of the other papers I would need, an overseas police clearance, I had the medical done as well while I waited. About the best advice I can give you is to use the time wisely. Get everything else you will need, and be ready. I hope you get sent on soon.

Thank you for answering. It is such a relief to know I'm not the only one. My fiance cannot get the medical done without packet 3 and we cannot get that if the case is not ready at the embassy ? so still waiting impatiently

For my fiance, the police certificate is valid for 3 months, but so far the only available dates for interviews are in December so we are waiting to be closer to get it as well. Have your case been sent to the Embassy yet? or did they tell you that u are in AP as well?

I'm in AP still just like yall. I can't find a definite answer on that police certificate for DR. I was reading about your Dec interview dates...very frustrating!

In regard to the medical done early, I had been in an email conversation back and forth with the Auckland embassy about my Canadian police clearance. It was meant to take 4-6 months to arrive, but it came way early. I emailed them to find out what would happen to that, would I need to get a new one, as we were in AP at NVC, and so it might expire before the petition was sent on. (it did) I was told as long as I stayed out of Canada, they would honor it.

The person I was emailing back and forth with, had no idea what was up with the AP either. She had never heard of that for K1's. I couldn't find out anything here either, until another person started the first Stuck at NVC thread. I was relieved to find out it wasn't just us. When I did get to the interview, the person who spoke to me told me it was random. I could see she was leafing over a lot of very strange looking papers, with big blocks down the left side, with check marks in them. Nothing we'd sent for sure.

I think because of the clearance email conversation, and my having the AKL case number, she sent me out packet three. In one of the last emails she sent me, she said she would call NVC and see what was going on, if we weren't out of AP the following Monday. We were, just a few days short of 8 weeks. :) Based on Auckland receiving the electronic case, I was able to go ahead and make the appointment, and that was a big help in speeding things up.

Obviously this won't be the case for everyone else, all I can really say it that it is how our case went. Auckland was very good to respond to email inquiries, and I realize that not all embassy's conduct themselves this way.

I also realize that we went into and out of AP in 2008/2009, and it seems as if they have managed to take less time that back then to do whatever it is they do. I really can't say I'd advise anyone to go read that huge first thread, but we had a pretty good support system in place while it was up. Anyone who got out of AP posted, anytime we called we posted the outcome of the call. We went over all the possible reasons for it; we are a younger/older couple, we are/are not in a high fraud country. We are at CSC versus VSC. There were people in that thread from all over, all backgrounds and ages. We never did get two petitions that were in any way similar.

All we could figure was that we had the bad luck to be selected for further scrutiny. We knew NVC couldn't deny, we knew we could only really wait it out, but it was a small comfort to know there were other people caught up in the same place.

I think there are still plenty of others caught up in this to this day. I don't think many of them see it as unusual, as it had now become more the norm. I had hoped that as people came and went we could get an idea on timelines from them, but as not so many even know that is what is going on, we don't get that information now. If you are in AP, and you are sent on, I encourage you to come back and update this thread. It will help someone down the road, who comes to find out how long they can expect to wait.

It does end. I'm sorry that seems like cold comfort at the moment, but try and think ahead to everything else you might need, and get your things together. That will give you a head start on being ready to roll when it's over. Good luck to you all, I hope it goes quickly!

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

cdneh thank you so much for that. I understand what you went thru and even it is not easy.Sometimes it is so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel I've asked that question a lot of places but many people just ignore it and does not even bother. I appreciate the support you provide on this thread and trust many people, like me, feel much better reading posts like yours. :luv:
