After the year the next three numbers in our case number are 547 ... that possibility can't be number of day in the year

Today is day 16 since the case number was aassigned! Do we panic? Call congressman? Anysuggestions, help?

All you can do is wait. If you check out the thread, and the previous one (Part 1) you can see all of the ideas people came up with, and tried, to get moving again. Congressmen can't find out anything you can't yourself.

Times have come down quite a lot since we were stuck there. I would think you will be on the way soon.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thank you because I was beginning to worry. It's been 17 days at NVC and when I called I got the standard "AP" so I wait. There really isn't anything else to do but wait. Hopefully not much longer.

Hang in there my friend...we will here something very soon! It's frustrating, however I am reading that it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Next Tuesday is week 3....not much longer!

So when I was calling nvc initially they'd tell me immediately that the case was in AP. Last two times they didnt mention AP. They just say it's waiting to be shipped. Does it mean AP has ended

We have also been waiting for AP to end. Today I called NVC and was told that usually petitions are shipped to the Embassies within a month of the petition being received at the NVC. So hopefully we are all moving forward.

OK.... we are freaking out now. What's going on?? Please share if u been through an AP that long and what was the reason and how did you cope with it.

We were in AP for almost 8 weeks. We called them a lot. We were angry and confused, but worked out early on freaking out wasn't going to help in the least. We were told they would let us know when the petition was sent on to the embassy, but they never did that. We only found out it was over by calling them. The last month we called them every day.

I was told at the interview it was random. A small number of the total K1 petitions that go through NVC are subjected to extra scrutiny. The FOIA request we filed to find out more, said the same thing. It was random.

We coped by getting ready for the next steps. On the strength of having the AKL number, I was allowed to go ahead and book my medical, and I did that. Packet 3 was sent out, and I sent it back well before we were out of AP. Not all embassy's will do that, but I figured as they were was confused as we were, it wouldn't hurt to try. I had all the paperwork lined up and ready to go. Even if your embassy makes you wait, you can get everything else you need ready to go. Once my embassy had the electronic edition of out petition I was allowed to make an interview appointment. That helped to speed thing up a lot, instead of waiting for AP to end, and then having to go on to do the rest. Have a look at my time line to see what I mean.

They started to do AP on K1's just as arrived there. There was nothing here on VJ to help us, even my embassy had no idea what was going on. At least now people have the benefit of understanding that it happens at all. I can't recall how many people here on VJ told me there was no such thing as AP for K1's.

My advise to people is to use the time they are in AP wisely. Get your papers together, have every last thing ready for when you get the green light. That way, you aren't creating further delay by sitting around waiting.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thanks! I appreciate it and so sorry for those weeks of hell. I hope and please that we don't have to wait that long.

I can tell you for the most part times have come down quite a bit from back then. I would say you won't be much longer, based on what I've been seeing from other people who post in here.

I was glad we had a group of people all in the same boat. It kind of helped to know we weren't the only people in the situation. I guess that is why the first thread was started, Part 1, and why we kept tabs on how each other were doing. I still keep an eye out for people who ask, although these days there is at least the information available when they come looking.

Good luck, be sure to come back and let us know when you are on your way!

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Called nvc around 5 pm and was told that case would be sent to embassy shortly. I asked specifically if it was in AP and was told No. I asked again to re-check and was told she didn't see any administrative pprocessing or administrative review.

Got excited but Wanted to be sure so I called again and hour later and was told it was still in AP.

Very disappointed! Who to believe? Who is right?
