I booked a party. We never have anyone show other then One couple we met 2 years ago, who found us on that site this will be 4th year that I'm doing it. She's a newfie here in Arkansas shes been here 12 years and we hit it off perfectly, the kids get along and so do the husbands so it's been a blast.

So if you want to get some goodies from the Canadian Embassy book a party, if you are worried ppl may contact you make the party at a park. Then if someone does you have a nice safe public place to use, if nobody messages you well you get some party supplies for home

Can't have one here though.... apt is too small!

Next year I'm totally doing this! Book a small hall etc... just incase no one shows up. LOL

well, the point is, really -

is that you can hold yer own anywhere in the usa

and if'n you register with the Canadien Embassy -

they'll ship you stuff to celebrate.

I view it as a postive thing afforded by NAFTA, since NAFTA was approved, yearly.

I don't think it is invite only, I think you have to get your name on a list or something. First come first serve perhaps? It would be so cool to go!

I will actually be in Canada for Canada Day this year! Flying out of Dulles to Toronto tomorrow afternoon and coming back on July 2nd! Woo!

I found out there is a Canadian Association of Colorado so I joined that. They have some cool little parties throughout the year (they're the ones hosting the almost Canada golf tourney in Denver.) Like a steak and lobster fest which is on it's 18th or 19th season! Nothing like connecting to your roots when you've made a new home.

That's funny. I have been here for over 15 years and never realized they had one here in Denver. I haven't even found a Canadian Meetup group here as of yet...

I see they don't have one in Detroit... I think that's because we already have a big celebration with Windsor, and it's too much of a fuss. The one in Port Huron could be entertaining though!
