just a question here...do they actually ask for the chest x-rays.....or do we carry these around for nothing.....i know i should bring them..but for those who have already been, do they want them......and hi...i will see you in the morning!!!...

Havent seen anyone on VJ been asked for them! I brought them, you just never know!! lol pain in the butt, but oh well!! It was on my list, so brought them!! OPnce in the USA, they ended up inthe garbage!!

It says to bring them, so I'd bring them if I were you. Yes, a definite pain! Especially when I didn't put it in my suitcase and carted it around with me everywhere. They ripped my medical envelope off of the x-ray, and gave my x-ray back to me. My understanding is that you'll be bringing it home with you to the US! No one ever asks for it.

My fiance brought the chest x-ray but they did not need them. The gave the x-ray back to him but bring yours anyway!

I know that someone called and asked and was told they had to have it with them for the interview (Montreal). They don't look at it, nor did the Border while I took it in there. I did ask them at the Border when do I need this he said not sure ha ha ha.

They say to bring it so bring it, however, no one will look at it, it will be a nuisance and a headache to look after and in the end you will bring it home with you. Technically, xrays can only be ready by a radiologist who is experienced in determining what information is revealed by the xray. There will be a report from a radiologist inside your medical file which is in the sealed envelope. Guaranteed that the immigration personnel are NOT experienced radiologists or qualified to interpret xrays- they depend upon the report from the radiologist. Personally, I think they just like to make everyone look silly carrying around an oversized xray of their lungs knowing no one will ever ask for it. It will be, however, a nice benchmark that your new physician in the States can use to compare future xrays of your lungs/heart to, so it may one day have some use. Hang on to it - but pack it in your checked luggage if you are flying:-).

It's also a great indicator in case you can't find the consulate in Montreal...just look for people with the x-rays!
