Hi all,

My wife has an interview with at the US Cosulate July 29. I was wondering if she passes her interview (hoping), how long would it take to get her VISA?

Second question, Should I book her flight in advance (is that even possible), or do I have to wait for her VISA to arrive to do such?

Thanks.


Also to note, this interview is in Ho Chi Minh City.

It's best to wait for the visa to be in hand before booking her a flight. You never know. And the length of time varies. If you want I can move this to a regional forum where you might get more answers or we can leave it here. :)

I can't answer the delivery question, because that varies widely depending on the embassy.

However, I'd strongly advise you NOT to buy any plane tickets until the visa is in her hand. Otherwise, it might take too long and you could miss the flight, or have to pay to change it, which is just annoying.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.
