Hey all VJ members on this long journey. :JJ

Just curious has anyone had to do DNA in Jamaica? I’m just trying to get an idea of the cost.

My husband is listed on his daughter’s birth certificate. I’m just jumping ahead to see what the process could be like if they ask.

I recently submitted the I130 for her and him. I know we have while to go before we even get to that part.

I’m just thinking ahead.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I read here about costs of $500---$1000, but it also seem depending

on your local (dads) lab, then the costs to DHL it to Kgn. embassy,

then they call U in by appt date.

Most times if the child was registered in dads name at birth ..no prob.

name entered after age 14 very likely, some ppl buy a kit and do a test B4

on their own.

Reason for tests...........US embassy at first began requesting this because

many JA BC lacked fathers name, even-though child had the man last name.

Soon after there was a lot of negative results causing them to do like a survey

they found most were JACKETS...so they look at that as somewhat a custom.

Even some registered at birth in mans name is requested if CO sees man & child

and resemblance is lacking also there are a large # of dads 14-16 yrs older than

their child and that definitely will have a DNA request
