My girlfriend is from the philippines and trying to get a B1 visa to come to the US. She has been denied once. My question is, if I went with her to the embassy in Manila. Would it help her get the visa. We have all the required paperwork, and i am sponsoring her. She does plan on returning, because she is getting an annulment and has her son to take care of.

Later down the road we will apply for the K1 visa after the annulment, but for now I just want to bring her here to get show her, her new house and surroundings.

Thanks for any help

My fiance (wasn't my fiance when this happened) was denied for a tourist visa her first time applying. We met while I was in Israel and I wanted her to come live with me for a while before we started the K-1 process. I contacted my congresswoman and had her write a letter of support basically stating that she had every intention of satisfying the terms of the visa and leaving the US when her time was up. When she went for her second tourist visa interview, she handed the interviewer the letter, and she was approved for a one time visit. He said he would not have approved her had it not been for the letter. It's no guarantee, but it should help. Mention nothing about her being your fiance or even girlfriend.

if asked you must be 100% truthful. If you lie about being boyfriend/girlfriend it is misrepresentation and it will hurt any future k-1

Your girlfriend must apply and be approved on her own merits, there is no such thing as a sponsor for a visitor visa. Having you there saying she will return will not help. She needs to show very strong ties to her home country. The chances for young, single woman getting a visitor visa to the US from the Philippines is low, especially when she has a US boyfriend.

B1 is for Business trips.

There is a next to zero chance for her to get a tourist visa or visitors visa from the Embassy in Manila. There are numerous red flags, including her relationship with a US citizen. About the only way she could get one is if she was able to prove she had sizable financial or real estate assets that she risked losing completely if she didn't return (family ties are meaningless). Unfortunately the Philippines has a rather significant denial rate for tourist visas. Your best bet if you can't go to the Philippines to meet her would be to meet her in another country where the entry restrictions on Filipinos was not so tight. The Bahamas is a good option and Filipinos can acquire a visa to enter the Bahamas from the Embassy in Hong Kong. As for the B1 visa, unless she is working as an executive for a multinational I wouldn't see that passing through the process either. Again, she has to be able to prove she has every intention of leaving and the Embassy in Manila generally only regards SIGNIFICANT financial assets at home to be enough to keep someone tied to the promise to return.
