I like the boys comments and those of the latino community leaders.

They would be contrasted by the comments such as those in this thread that fling hate back, wag a self riotous finger from people who want to feel good about themselves or feel superior and basically exhibiting the same behavior.. You people are no better.

I realize I'm doing the same thing.. I'm no better either.

Criticizing bigotry is the same as being a bigot?

Mariachi is part of San Antonio's culture. If some out-of-towner doesn't like that.... well, maybe they need to sit down at a nice shady table on the Riverwalk and have themselves a couple of tacos and a margarita.... and see if that might change their attitude.

Sebastien should come back and do it in Spanish next time. And wear a sombrero.

Remember a post you made recently about moving from trying to say something of relevance to just being annoying? Your not the only one.

But yeah - posting little red headed kids and making jokes, calling people rednecks and talking about their teeth and marrying cousins, or disparaging the state they are from like one recent poster has done to all those hailing from Idaho and Kentucky while also commenting on racists.. same type of behavior, just aimed at a different group.

I see. The red head picture was a result of my google image search of a typical 1950's kid. I think a lot of bigots wish they could live in 1950 in perpetuity. Proud Kentuckian here btw and we do have lots of racists.

Been to San Antonio many times (my sister lives there) had thanksgiving dinner once in that rotating tower restaurant, and the Mariachi band at my wedding party was awesome... I could not care less if they play the national anthem in spanish or in swahili with bagpipes or hooters girls doing an interpretive dance.

I didn't really have any point to replying.. But I did hit the reply button so I had to go with it.

Oh I thought you were joking - that was why I put the ROFL.

Anyway, the rest was directed at the racist commenters, not you or all out-of-towners... you certainly didn't make any remarks like that (at least not that I saw here.) Glad you enjoyed your visits, and you are always welcome. Most people are like you - they enjoy the city in no small part because of its Mexican culture and flavor.

Some more response from this outstanding young man:

SAN ANTONIO -- A local boy who has won national attention through his appearances on a television singing competition has become the focal point of a social media storm.

Sebastien de la Cruz answered the call to sing the National Anthem before Game 3 of the NBA Finals after Darius Rucker canceled at the last minute. The 11-year-old had no idea how much people would be buzzing about the performance.

"When I started mariachi, I knew there was gonna be a lot of politics," he said Wednesday. "And I'm just a proud American, to be honest."

Those "politics" didn't stop the talented singer from standing up at the AT&T Center in front of a national television audience to do what he loves -- inspiring others.

After touching the hearts of the nation and bringing San Antonians to tears with his song, a flurry of racist tweets targeted the boy's heritage.

Cruz told KENS 5 he knows better than to listen to hateful words.

"With the racist remarks, it was just people how they were raised. My father and my mama told me you should never judge people how they look," he said.

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro also offered the local celebrity some words of encouragement on his Twitter account.

Support for the former "America's Got Talent" star blew up on Wednesday with some supporters calling for him to return to sing the National Anthem before Game 4. Some supporters even called on fans to wear traditional mariachi attire to the AT&T Center on Thursday night.

That would be cool if a lot of fans show up in mariachi costumes

Speaking of pictures, you need to fix your avatar.

Trying to but the picture I would like to post, it's saying it's too large.

I don't think you are a gun toting redneck because you live in Kentucky..

There are a lot of people that want to freeze the clock and pretend the world is leave it to beaver. Not all of them are bigots.. Many countries around the world take steps to limit influence of American (western) music and movies and take other steps to limit outside influence to "preserve the culture"... It is not bigotry - they fear change and lash out. Some are bigots - they exist and are not limited to any race/country/culture.

I don't care who sings it, as long as the Spurs win.

As a lifelong Suns fan, I've hated the Spurs with a vengeance over the years, but in these Finals, I'm rooting for them. Popovich is one of the best to have ever coached in the NBA.

Open pic in mspaint, reduce pixels, save. Should lower your size.

What should he do?
