Ankara is where the plane lands.

One does not land in Ankara to hit Turkey's beaches. One lands in Antalya or Izmir to do that. Why? Well, because that is where the beaches happen to be. From Ankara, it's about a day trip to the nearest Turkish beach - at a minimum 400 miles cross country in Turkey. No sane person would that when beachside airports are readily available and serviced by more carriers more frequently than Ankara. But sure, you're going to Ankara to hit them Turkish beaches. Keep telling yourself that.

I get it now.

Gary Likes Vermont

Vermont has more guns and less crime than Canada

Canada has more guns and less crime than Ukraine

Gary hates Ukraine

Brilliant. +1 for you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country

And your figures are wrong. (Who'd guess that?) Ukraine has 6.6 firearms per 100 residents, not 100,000 so it is actually 1000 times better and more safe than you said. I am so surprised. Probably a typo. Unless you think there are only 68 guns per 100,000 people in the USA. laughing.gif

You know what I LOVE about Ukraine, though? You can buy a Makarov (that's a type of pistol with a magazine...google it) from a policeman in Donetsk for $200.

How much would it cost to buy a pistol from a policeman in Montreal?

Since our liberal nanny state brothers. Are obsessed with you. Perhaps you could develop some pre lettered. Responses. To save you some time.

I don't hate Canada and yes they have lots of guns in Canada. Kinda rules out a lack of guns being the reason for your usual claim of Canada's low crime rate being a lack of guns. Canada has a lower crime rate than Ukraine...by far and 5 times the guns.

Thank you for pointing out what I always say.

There is more crime in the US than there is in both Canada and Ukraine. Despite there being the most guns in the US. If what you always say had any merit, then there should be the least crime in the US. Of course, that isn't the case so what you always say is nonsense.

And yet, you consider going to Montreal a "risk" due to the lack of guns.

Makes sense.

OMG they ARE obsessed!

I suppose I need to post my trip itinerary for them so they can follow along with me while they are at work.

In two weeks I am flying to Ankara from Donetsk, via a stop in Odessa. While in Turkey we will visit the beaches and will also make our way to Istanbul (OMG!!!!!!!! However can we possibly do that?) and visit Natasha, Alla's classmate from her MA-TESOL master's program who is now teaching English in Istanbul. Yes, really. Since I have friends in Odessa, from when I lived there, we are going to visit there on the way. I probably do not follow the same plan that you do when you visit Turkey. Where do you usually go?

You can debate whether that is sane or not with Penny, but I am going to enjoy it. we are going to be over here until mid-August this and really we can kind of just wander around, see places and go where we like and we really do not need to feel pressured to hurry along like someone on a two week vacation from working

I will post new photos at my profile so you guys can check them out

Walking in Montreal is more risky than walking in Burlington. Yes, I risk it. I like Montreal. Its like skiing or skydiving. I even fly light airplanes (OMG!) You know the risk and accept it. I go to Canada all the time when I am in Vermont, Sometimes just for lunch. Mmmmm, smoked meat! I am sure you do also. There is an awesome Russian store on Cote St Luke. You should take the short drive there and.....oh, nm.

I do not hate Canada or Montreal, just want to make that clear. and I checked...no periods in the middle of my sentences, so everything I say is correct.

I never said you hated anything, nor did I say you were putting periods in the middle of your sentences. That was to someone else, clearly.

It's amusing to me that walking in Montreal is a "risk" to you, but walking anywhere in the Ukraine (less guns and more crime, according to you) isn't. That's all. Have a good day. :)

They are obsessed . When truth and light is shown onto a dark place it can be fearful at first. It's mixed emotions for them. They know you are right, but at the same time fearful that they have been wrong for so long.

Here's the thing, this is like the seat-belt argument. Seat-belts save millions of lives but some JO always tries to justify not wearing his seat-belt because his cousin was in a wreck and "his seat-belt actually caused more damage". Yeah, I guess you win because you found one of the smaller anomalies in the greater statistical pool. Seat-belts saved a million lives last year but actually caused 20 deaths (made up statistics). Therefore, we shouldn't have seat-belts.

Sorry but if you want to not wear a seat belt and get killed, it should be your right to be an idiot. Same with Motorcycle Helmets.

I used to think that way as i didn't care because it didn't affect me. But these no seatbelt/helmet wearing folks always get hurt and of course lots of medical bills, more insurance claims, higher insurance premiums.
