Canadian newbie applying for K1

Hi there! Yup, here's another person who fell in love with someone from another country. I'm Canadian, which makes it a little easier because the US is next door. But I'm in western Canada, and he's in the eastern US, so it's still quite far.

I'm in my 40s, and he's in his 50s. I'm still adjusting to the thought of changing countries at this point in my life. I've spent a couple of months with him in his city, though, and I found it very livable (except for the cold winters!). And what's more important: the love of a country, or sharing your love with that special person in your life? We all know the answer to that.

I've spent several days browsing this forum, the guides, and the example forms. I still have a few questions, which I'll ask in the K1 forum. For now, I want to thank all the people who compiled that information, who update it, and who contribute to this forum. You've helped immensely.

It also helps to talk with people who are in the same situation or who have been through it. Great forum!

I'm Canadian too (from Ontario) and have been living here in Boston area for about a year. I know how you feel about leaving Canada! It's been hard for me to adjust, but the past few months, I've really grown to like this area (of course the warmer winters here help too ).

I didn't like the idea of living in the US and leaving Canada, but i've grown to appreciate the US more, the longer I've been here.

I just found this site today and it is exactly what I needed. My fiance is from Western Canada and I am in the Eastern US (sound familiar We are in the process of applying for a fiancee visa. The sucky thing is, he was just denied entry to the US because he no longer looks like a visitor to the US but rather a potential immigrant. Good luck with everything

I'm from the west coast of Canada and my hubby is the easterner from NY. He ended up moving to WA state when we got married and now I'm here with him. It took us a bit longer because we had to petition for my daughter and get a consular report for our son but here we are! Hope it goes very quickly for you, best wishes

I've been looking around here, and I'm learning a lot. There's the procedural part of the application right up to getting married, and then there are all the adjustments to go through when living in another country. Even though Canada is next door to the US, it's still a big change.

I'll be posting more in other threads when I have more time.
