Wow.. others have been able to get the ASC appointment done without the letter. I do not know if you just talked to someone that would not budge or what. Also, quite a few people have gotten their letters from the consulate information window, both those seeking a K-1 and those seeking a spousal visa. I do not know what is happening as of late, but it really was not that long ago when another VJ member got their ASC done without the letter and then got the letter printed off when they got to Juarez for their medical and interview.

Calling CDJ is a hotbed of misinformation just like talking to a tier one person when calling the USCIS misinformation line.

It will take some time to get a reply, but try using email. I recall someone not wanting to wait so long for the letter because they had already waited quire a few weeks and received nothing. They asked about receiving the letter when they went to Juarez for their appointments, and they received a reply that they could. It made them feel more comfortable to have the printed email to show at the consulate in case anyone tried to deny them the letter, they had it in writing that they could. They were able to get it printed without needed to show the email.

Well, I can give the email inquiry a try, but I think by the time we get a response, it's going to be too late. Our ASC appointment (Not at Juarez) is scheduled for next Monday. I think we are going to have to cancel our appointments by Friday so that we are not considered a "no-show" on Monday. I'll then have to reschedule. I hope I can figure that process out. Then the question is when do I reschedule for? The other option is that we try it on Monday without the letter anyway and see what happens. Not sure how that would affect the rescheduling if we get turned away.

Does anyone know if it is possible to just cancel and reschedule the ASC appointment without changing the Consulate appointment. If I could cancel the ASC appointment at our local ASC in Baja California and then reschedule the ASC appointment for Juarez, then maybe we could try getting a copy of the letter in Juarez.

Ed,

I am very sorry to hear what is going on. We are not sure where to turn next. I guess I will try one more call to the Consulate's office in Ciudad Juarez in order to get more incorrect information.

We have placed this in God's Hands

I am having the same issue...my appointment letter never arrived in all of 3 months even though they said they sent it so they said they would have to send it again (around June 18th) and it'd be another 4-6 weeks. The Juarez Embassy clearly tells you that you cannot print your appointment letter off at the embassy because I called various times and asked more than one person...but I've heard that people have recently gone there and done just that! So, I'm not sure what to believe either...I'm going to call them again tomorrow and see if I can get a more straightforward answer about the Appointment Letter but it would be nice if we didn't have to wait...again....

People were told they could not get it printed when calling last year too, but then in an email from the consulate it stated they could. They got it printed without a problem and then another couple went not too long after them and got theirs with no problem too. Some were able to do the ASC without the letter as well.

Do they send the information Dhl or regular mail ?

Since we have not received the letter I can not say for sure, but both the consulate and CSC claim that the letters are sent via DHL.

  • 3 weeks later...

We were notified on May 15th that my petition was approved. Documentation subsequently sent to CDJ Consulate, and we have since been waiting for the packet to arrive in the mail. Well, enough was enough, after 6 weeks of waiting. We had an attorney inquire with CDJ Consulate, and after all that waiting, they EMAILED(!) the 1-page invitation letter, requesting that we bring that to the interview. Finally, finally, finally we have medical and then interview scheduled for August. To go through such a process, being dependent on the mail...just painful. To think we could have had attorney contact the consulate two months ago...ugh. Nevertheless, this feels like progress finally, and we're counting down the days til the interview.
