I don't exactly know what else could they be doing for 'additional processing' but ours went through it for 3 more weeks after it was approved from USCIS and before they forwarded it to our consulate.

Good luck!

Additional processing, or AP, simply means that some additional background checks are being done and there is nothing you can do about it. Except wait. The fact that your fiance is from Iran, could be a reason. Not exactly a country on America's top ten list.

I figured that is probably the reason. But she is a 23 year old female. lol So she cant be too dangerous.

Anyway, can our case be denied? we were already approved at the USCIS. It has been at the NVC for almost 2 weeks now. Hopefully it ends soon?

Visas are issued by the State Department ( the embassy/consulate). Not the NVC. Only they can approve or deny. But they act upon the information given them by the NVC, in addition to their own analysis. What the NVC searches for is anyone's guess, and everyone is different. It could be your fiancee's fathers brother, third cousin uncle's four times removed from some niece's aunt's husband who said something on the cell phone, picked up by some naval vessel in the Arabian sea, translated by a new recuit who got the message wrong, BUT they need to check it out. It's the government.

Based on my experience, it means nothing! We were exactly told the same thing about a year ago: "Additional Processing" @ NVC! Back then, it was something new so there was a huge debate on many forums on what this could mean. The conclusion was that this AP is not equal to the AP that you would get after the interview. AP @ NVC just means they are too busy (=lazy) to process your case and forward it to the embassy. It makes sense you know! Could you even imagine the amount of effort it takes for someone to go to the mailroom, find your case in the huge pile of received cases from USCIS, pick it up, go to the "ready for embassy" room, find the Ankara pile and throw it there? :D

Just be patient, and soon your case will be forwarded to the embassy ;) you are done with the USCIS nightmare, so there is absolutely nothing to worry about now ;) be patient and good luck good.gif

Sorry I'm late to this discussion. Our approved petition got to the NVC May 2nd. We were put into AP May 3rd. We got out of AP May 22.

The NVC cannot deny a K1 they must either send the case back to the USCIS or send the case to the consular.
