Should I ask parents to mail over original doc while waiting for NOA2 I-130?

Hi,

While waiting for NOA2 for I-130 (both parents), should i ask my parents to send all original documents to me because it took like 2 or 3 wks just to mail from Cambodia to US.

Original documents include:

  • birth certificate
  • married license
  • 4 passport photo
  • criminal record
  • medical record

I guess that it, right?

Or it's too early to ask them to mail those. Anything I'm missing, please provide.

I'm considering the same thing. It's not too early, unless your parent needs their birth certificate and marriage certificate (assuming they will be mailing you the originals). They have to realize that those documents might be unavailable to them for several months before their immigration interview.

What about medical record, criminal record, and passport photo? too early?

Also I'm confuse between DS-3032 Choice of Agent, and DS-230

I know Beneficiary can email for Choice of Agent and if approve, does DS-230 part I still need to be signed by beneficiary?

Criminal records are usually valid for a year.

Medical record is usually brought to the interview and does not have to be mailed at all.

Photos are good for 6 months.

I believe that DS-230 has to be signed by beneficiary, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

I just thought of it. My wife only had one original birth certificate which was translated to English when she was in Cambodia. Since now that she is in the US, where can she get another original birth certificate or certified birth cert?

She need two birth cert. since she file I-130 for her dad and mom...
