hello everyone :)

im new to this bord ,

following situation is currently going on ..

i am a u.s citizen by birth .. i have a daughter who was born in germany , where i am living ,

i am about to get married to a u.s service member . and know that we will have to move to the u.s.a soon .

my fiance is not her father btw .. ( i hope im making sense )

anyway ...

so i have not been present in the u.s.a after my 14th birthday , but have family living there for 20+ years ,

my daughter has the german citizenship but not the american one ,

what do i need to do to get her to the u.s.a legally ?

somewhere i read that she does'nt neccessarly need a visa since i am an american .. but nobody so far has been able to elaborate on that .

any help would be very helpful .. im really stressed out since i know that most likely this october is our leave date . so i need this done ASAP !!!!!

your daughter will receive US citizenship almost "automatically" through the child citizenship act.

You need to file a petition for greencard for your child through the US consulate in Frankfurt,
then travel to the US with your child, and once you establish residence in the US, apply for her US passport.

If you have never lived in the US, I agree with Karin and you will have to file a petition for a green card. However, if you've your daughter was born out of wedlock, you will only need one year physical presence requirement inable to transfer your USC.
