Hello Everyone,

I have an update about my case and a few questions...

Yesterday i received an email from my lawyer, alerting me about my upcoming I485 Interview....(pose) I SCREAMED... well in happiness.

As you can see from my timeline, i have been waiting since 2010, and it has been a long and tasking journey....really its just by the grace of God that we have this patience.

I called 2 weeks ago to USCIS to ask about my case and i guess by good luck i spoke to a really nice lady who asked me my case number, and for the first time, since ive been calling USCIS she didnt tell me the usual line... (we cant give you any details because vawa cases are sensitive) i was surprised, but happy that she looked into it. She told me my case has been out of the processing times by over 100 days. no wonder i dont hear anything. anyway, she told me she put an expediting notice to have my case looked into. Also,a month ago i had contacted the Ombudsman office for help. no updates were made of my case status. just yesterday i received a notification from the Ombudsman office stating that they have sent an inquiry into my case to USCIS. A lady from the office had called me 2 weeks ago to get my details.

I guess my question is since i already have an appointment, does the Ombudsman contacting USCIS going to affect anything? The i485 also requires me to fill a form I 693. My question is i had filled out this form in my previous I485 when i was still living with my abusive spouse and after i ran away from him, he revoked his sponsorship., obviously resulting in my case getting denied and hence this new process.

It might seem like i silly question, but i just need to be sure ive covered everything needed for the Interview which is coming up in 2 weeks. Please, Sandranj, and anyone else who knows this process better, i need all the advice i can get and any tips on the interview. I am all pins and needles, and a nervous wreck!!

Thank you all, and please wish me luck, i need this for my childrens sake.

I wish everyone all the best and all the luck in this journey...

Rachel..

rachelm the form I-693 is valid just for one year, but i saw many cases they did not send any RFE asking to have a new medical exam done,if you have a interview set up it means they will not ask you the medical exam anymore, they suppose to ask before the interview date ok.T he Ombudsman contacting USCIS will not affect anything.make sure you will take to the interview your original birth certificate and translation, original marriage certificate, original divorce decree(if you are divorced), previous divorce decree(if you had one before),your passport ,and just in case some take some proof of bonafide marriage, most offices do not ask anything besides seeing original documents, but some offices ask to see proof of bonafide marriage(bank statement in name of both, jointly tax return, lease agreement and utilities bills in name of of both, pictures of both of you) if you have any child take with you the child original birth certificate as well.Do not worry you are good.Good luck.

See this memo from USCIS which describes how I-693 medical examinations can often be valid for more than one year: http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Laws/Memoranda/Static_Files_Memoranda/I693_Extension_PM_Approved_Final122012.pdf

hypnos despite the memorandum they are still asking for new medical exam. I just had a few cases they did not ask a new one. This week two members of visa journey contacted me because they submitted form I-693 along with form I-485 before filling Vawa and despite that in the interview letter is written to take to the interview a new medical exam (sealed envelope) it means the alien must follow what each local office is asking .

cielo 14 if the divorce is based in domestic violence it usually takes more time than a divorce based in irreconcilable differences.

Divorce Law is different in each State you need to read about your State what's the requirements to file for divorce.
