citragilr there is no problem at all receiving food stamp, cash assistance and medicaid when you have a prima facie. The alien will have a problem if after having the I-360 approval the alien continues receiving food stamp and cash assistance, then they will consider public charge and they will not issue a GC or if granted the GC the alien will be subjected to deportation.US Citizen children can receive all benefits anytime without any problem .t

The prima facie meaning is to help aliens when their cases are still pending , but once the case is approved the aliens suppose to provide for themselves without using public funds for that. You can use "charity" in any hospital without they consider you a public charge ok.

KittyKatty,

Am not sure why do you need his Birth Certificate. I don't have any access to my ex's documents and my Attorney sent the letter to USCIS that since I have no access to any of his documents if they can check his status in their system. There is a rule where we can request USCIS to do that.

My lawyer requested to check his status since i couldn't get his birth certificate when I filled VAWA. and I just got RFE a couple days ago saying that they could not verify his immigration status with the information i proved them (name, date of birth, place of birth,a copy of SSN card)

I guess i will have to write a letter that i've tried, and all the information i know about his family and request them to search one more time.

my lawyer is no help!!!!!

Congratulations on all the approvals!!! Im very confident all the cases here on visa journey will be approved. Hold on tight guys. Hold on just a little longer.

I think the wating time is different in every state. Like in my case it took me about 2 years and half to get my greeencard without biometrics renewal. It was weird because most of you on this journey has been asked to renew so I was waiting even after my interview for them to ask before sending the GC, but they never did. I guess they deal with every cases differently. Like some takes longer, some shorter.....??? Doesn't make much sens

what you say makes sence but I just cant figure it out my vawa approved since December 2012 and was transferred same day and its eight months now and I still don't hear anything r gotten no interview datecrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gif
