I too have just learnt that my case was transfered to an office today but they didnt say where. Kinda weird but at least i know i'm not being overlooked.

Huh? Income is not a prerequisite to file a federal income tax return, though income above a certain level requires a return to be filed.

One CAN file a return with no income and many do.

Some valid reasons which come to mind ... one can claim dependents, usually children, so another spouse filing separately or singly may not claim those dependents. Another reason would be eligiblity for an Earned Income Tax Credit - a federal tax return is the only way to claim this credit if you are eligible and income is not a requirement for eligibility. Thirdly, a spouse undergoing a contentious divorce may file a separate return with zero income in order to claim relief from unknown tax liabilities incurred during the marriage/divorce. There are probably other valid reasons to file as well.

Seek out a tax accountant / attorney for tax related issues.

Agree with taking the ex to Court to secure child support payments - buggers need to be held accountable.

Islandinthesun1, where was your case before today do you know?

I think it was at Vermont center. The status was on initial review. It still is saying initial review but it says it was transfered to one of their offices today. Not sure which one.

I really hope so, lol...I didnt call them. I decided to keep my hiney quiet since i saw my case was approved. I didnt evn expect an update on my i485. I thought it would be abt my i765 renewal.lololol
