I don't know..I know he wanted originals , i would suggest if you could try to get it and if you can't you will have to explain why not.. The interview letter is specific about bringing the originals. It will work out with reason enough I'm sure

I do not have my ex husband's original birth certificate.only a scanned copy and his passport biographic page. I have the original marriage certificates with the seal. I don't believe it possible to get a USC's original birth certificate except he or his parents ask and sign for it. They wot release it to a third party.its too personal..you can see- the officer was surprised that you had his original birth certificate with you anajnic because he knows you couldn't get it without him or his own parents being there in person to request for it. This should not be a problem at all for those who don't have it. IMO

Yes indeed , he was a tad surprised . I was surprise by his surprise to tell you the truth. lolololol..either way, it will work out.. He was just so fun for an adjudicator.Yet, in the interview letter.. it states Originals.By the hook or the crook his birth paper remained with me.. I'm in awe still

Not one question was on abuse or of marriage.Only about whether we were still married and when we separated.I walked with pics and proof of bonafide marriage. You need your original documents and answer the questions over in the i485.. thats it.But God… maybe for some folks its different especially if the adjudicator is not convinced about your case. I saw no reason for folks to have attorneys with them. that sfor me of course, it made nooo sense

Anajnic, congratulations, I'm very happy for you! :-) Your "visa journey" is finally over - you will have the immigrant visa and now you can be a free person who can work, travel, and take care of yourself. All the best!

I don't have my spouse's original birth certificate either, just a photocopy. Only the person whose name is on the birth certificate or the parents of that person can request it from the state where my spouse was born. For my interview, I will even print out this regulation from the state's website and bring it to the interview to show if anyone asks why I don't have an original.

Thank you Piper2013.. Yes that would be good and since so many have only copies i guess its easy to say all will be well if you don't have the original.Yes this journey is over ,I am indeed happy it is done.Hopefully god willing citizenship in 3 years .Its gonna work out for yawl regardless. Hopeefully many will remember to tell the adjudicator why they cannot have the original, because some adjudicators wouldn't know this I'm sur

my lawyer contacted NBC and this is what they sent,

A review of our systems shows that Case xxx, Form I-485 for xxx was transferred from the Vermont Service Center to the NBC on xxx and is currently pending. This case has been identified as a VAWA case. The NBC will perform background checks and establish a safe address for the applicant. This case will then be forwarded to the field office of jurisdiction for further processing and adjudication. The field office will schedule the interview. The NBC cannot provide any time frame for this case at this time.

my file been seating in nbc for four months and this is all they can say.
