I personally did NOT send all bona fide proofs again. I had submitted all these with the I-360. I also did NOT submit police clearances again. I had submitted these with the I-360. The instructions for the I-485 hint that re-submitting police clearances (for a second time) is NOT necessary. In my case, I would have had to submit 3 of these, because I lived at 3 separate places, some of which are far from one another. This is not easy and it would be a waste of time and efforts if it is unnecessary. If it is not necessary (which is how I read the I-485 instructions) to send these again, I wouldn't. I had submitted all my bonafide marriage stuff with the I-360, which was approved. I have no more bonafide proof stuff, so I didn't send anything about bonafide with the I-485, which I filed separately and after the I-360 was already approved. I did submit a copy of my birth certificate with the I-485, because the instructions for I-485 explicitly state that this must be sent along with the I-485 form. By the way, when I was filing for I-360 I did NOT submit my own birth certificate - because the instructions didn't ask for it.

In short - and this was my point above - I have NEVER submitted the same documents twice. Also have NOT received any RFEs - at least so far. I did fingerprints a month ago.

Anajnic, before asking Sandranj (or anyone else) for advice, I ALWAYS read the instructions for myself and only then ask. Yes, I first device my own understanding of things based on what I have read and researched - that's right, and I don't think it's unfair. I only ask questions when I am not absolutely clear about something and want reassurance. I don't think it is rude or bad of me to share with people what my understanding of something is. I am only trying to be helpful. These are things that are confusing and that's why we have a forum - so that we can discuss them openly. So your criticism telling me (somewhat rudely - and this is the second time you do this) to stop devising my own understanding is really not very appropriate. I have not been rude to you, and I would appreciate the same of you. Thanks.

Send all docs with emphasis on bonafide marriage and so forth , all docs you sent for i360.Start moving girl, that all i can tell you,

Piper give me a list of all documents you submitted with you i485 and i360.

I personally sent EVERYTHING with my i360. Frm my birth certificate to my ex husband's birth certificate to marriage certifcate, marriage record, proof of bonafide marriage, pics frm marriage, insurances and phone bills, events we both attended etc u name it. Two police clearances which took me 2-3weeks to get. You ladies are both correct but I need a list or required docs in order to avoid rfe. I do have a valid fingerprint clearnce card which won't expire till next 4years.I intend to add a photocopy of it,it might save me another fingerprints appointmnt. Don't you think guys?

Sorry I meant list of docs you submitted with your i485 and i765EAD (not i360) sorry

bestgirlever,

With my I-485 I submitted the following documents:

I-797, Notice of Action for I-360 approval

I-912, Request for Fee Waiver (together with tax returns for the previous year)

G-325A, Biographic Information

I-864W, Affidavit of Support Exception

I-693, Medical Record

two passport photos

my birth certificate with a certified translation

the biographic page of my passport

copy of my I-94

That's all. All other documents I submitted with the I-360. They have all other documents already. I simply followed the instructions for the I-485. I have not received any RFEs so far. Now, I might be wrong and, of course, it is not impossible that I receive an RFE, in which case I will let you know about it. But so far, I have not received any RFEs and it has been 2 months since I submitted the I-485 and one months since my interview.

Also, the instructions for I-485 do NOT ask for submitting any bona fide proofs. These proofs are submitted with a supplement form (such as I-360 or I-130, the instructions for both of which request these proofs to be submitted with these forms. The same goes about police clearances - see page 3, point 6 under Initial Evidence on the instructions for I-485.

Finally, I can imagine a good reason NOT to send the same documents twice. This creates more paperwork and might potentially create more confusion in this very bureaucratic and slow process. By the way, this is probably the reason why USCIS is NOT asking for the same documents twice. If the instructions don't ask for something, I wouldn't send it.

Of course, Casper54 - we are here to share information from which we all benefit.

Anajnic, you can be "done" with whoever you want. That's obviously not up for me to decide. This forum is for all of us to exchange ideas and spread information, and it is not really up for anyone to tell people who are not being rude to anyone to stop doing this or that. Also, it is kind of funny to see that you apparently think I'm someone (who I understand you don't like) that I am not.

I still wish you good luck at your interview!

Getting police clearances is not always an easy and straightforward manner, especially if you have lived in separate places that are far from one another. So people want to avoid getting a second police clearance - if it is not necessary.

Piper2013,

I'll be going thru this process of police clearance soon.

Could you please let me know the steps to obtain the police clearance certificates specially when lived at multiple place?

How much time it takes to get these?

Thanks !

Back&Bighter,

Of course. As far as I got it, there are several types of police clearances - from the county, from the state, and from the FBI. I had lived in 3 places/states for longer than 6 months for the 3 years before I submitted my I-360 - state A, state B, and state C, so I had to submit 3 of these. At the time of submitting I was living in state C.

State A and State B issued me state police clearances from the State Police. For these I requested a "criminal history/sex offender search" from the State Police. For state A I had to do it online with a credit card, because it was too far. I travelled to State B in order to do so, because I decided this would be faster than ordering it online.

For state C, however, the State Police refused to issue me the police clearance. This was the place where I had lived the most recently. They said that I needed a driver's license from state C. I was not going to be getting a driver's license from state C, so I could not have requested it. So I went to the county court in the county where I was living in state C and requested it there. The cost for this was 15 dollars and they just did a "name search." All three police clearances produced "no results," which means that for each of these places I was not on record for having had any criminal offenses.

Overall, the whole thing took about a month. While state B and place C (the county court) gave me the police clearance on the spot, for state A (the one I did online) initially my credit card didn't work for some reason. Then I had to call them on the phone and had to place another request. It took them 2-3 weeks to produce the police clearance.

It is possible to obtain all these police clearances both either in person or online. Online it takes more time, but if you are far from the place, you might have to do it this way.

I hope this helps.
