I received an status update email from USCIS on Oct 17, 2013 that my case has been transferred to Local Office. As per Sandra's post since its over 45 days, I booked an Infopass appointment and went for it today and the Officer said that my case is transferred to NBC and now NBC has to transfer the case, so once they have case transferred to Local Office I should get interview date. She mentioned since its Holiday season I gotta wait for sometime and expect to have my file transfer to local office in Jan-Feb.

Anyone else in similar boat?? unsure.png

im in the same boat

Let me explain what's happening when you see your case in the local office and then NBC. Your case gets in the local office but then the adjudicator sees something is missing in your file, it might be a copy of a birth certificate, medical exam or proof of bonafide marriage etc...but the local office cannot issue RFE, then they have to ship to NBC and then NBC will send you the RFE , once you answered NBC will send your file back to the local office.

Sandra let me explain about my case on Octuber 3O my case was transfered to my local office and the november 1th they send me an email that my case was transfered to an uscis office.... just said uscis office no NBC

El Octubre 30, 2013, transferimos el I485, SOLICITUD PARA REGISTRAR RESIDENCIA PERMANENTE O PARA AJUSTE DE ESTADO, a su oficina local de USCIS para su posterior procesamiento.

This was two days after the firts emal on November 1th:

El estatus de su caso: Revisión inicial

El I485 SOLICITUD PARA REGISTRAR RESIDENCIA PERMANENTE O PARA AJUSTE DE ESTADO fue transferido y está siendo tramitado en la actualidad en una oficina de USCIS.

So sandra what do you think about my case.???

Sandra, during an Infopass session can we ask the local officers to request cases from the NBC? Do they have the authority to request cases from the NBC to the local office? Or do they just say that the case is at the NBC, that there is a lot of volume, and that we just have to sit and wait.

In my case, 45 days is coming up in 3 days. My case was last updated more than a month ago, and I am not expecting any RFEs. (I mean, one never knows, but I don't think so.) Also, that Q & A from which I pasted above says that usually they send RFEs within the first 10 days of the case being at the NBC. For me this 10-day period was over more than a month ago, and since then my case has just been sitting at the NBC.

I'm just wondering if doing an Infopass is of any use. If they are just going to say that nothing can be done, then Infopass might just be a waste of time. But if the local office can actually request the case from the NBC, then it might be worth doing it. Is it worth it?

Hey hope all is well but it's going on 3 months for me wouldn't nbc already send that RFE if they had too. I maybe wrong but I don't think I will be getting any RFE( u never know with uscis) I personally think that cases did not leave nbc because based on wat I am seeing many people here are having the same problem with getting two different updates one being transferred to NBC and another to local office but the cases never left nbc to begin with. This is a bit weird hopefully our cases all get to local office soon to set ou interview. Good luck guys!!!

The Q & A session that I quoted above (from the NBC/AILA conference in May) says that RFEs are sent within 10 days of receipt in the NBC. It seems to me that time just need to pass, but nobody can tell how much time. My question is whether setting up an Infopass appointment is worth it. If at the Infopass they are just going to say that we have to wait, it might just be a waste of time...

Sambbz if you are ok now then you won't have a diagnose of major depression, post traumatic disorder, and a new psychological evaluation won't help you at all. It's very important to have a psychologist evaluation right after the abuse or when you are experiencing symptons of depression or pos traumatic disorder.THe psychologist has to mention onset of the problems, history of the abuse, treatment performed and/or recommended, tests performed, diagnose and prognostic.A great evaluation has between 9/13 pages and performed by a psychologist.Never show your affidavit to the psychologist, some are lazy and just copy&paste your affidavit in the evaluation. Unfortunately in your case a psychological evaluation won't help you anymore.Your affidavit is very Important to show the abuse suffered, but if you didn't have a diagnose of pos traumatic disorder, depression or anxiety then your case couldn't be approved.

I will still schedule to see a psychologist, I can say i'm am fine but I guess a psychologist can better assess that. Is there anything else I can do meanwhile, while I wait for my lawyer to get back from his vacation so I can get all of my documents?

Hey guys,

I've seen that some of your got their EAD renewals pretty fast and others had to wait for 3 months or even more. Has anybody tried to expedite it when you were getting close to the expiration of the old one? or did you just wait?

You must reapply for a new Ead,preferably 2 months to 6 weeks before expiration of the old one.I did mine 6 weeks before , got it in 10 days or 2 weeks.

Thank u anajnic so you filed ead and i485 separately? I thought the fee waiver covers for both ead and i485?

I filed i360 and i485 together. they sent me back check for i360 ( i dent even apply for fee waiver, they just sent it back but kept fee for i485) I filed for EAD after and dent pay both times.

I don't understand. They said you shouldn't pay for ead but to pay for i485 right? So how much did you pay in total for fee? You did not send fee waiver forms together with the ead and i485 I suppose? Its a little confusing
