A priority date for an I-360 is only especially useful if you were married to an LPR, not a US citizen, since you need the F2A classification to be current before you can submit your I-485.

And to the question above, the DHS Ombudsman can only assist you if your case is outside of normal processing times, or you believe USCIS has made an error in your case and you haven't been able to resolve it by other means.

Thanks for the clarification. So if I was married to a US citizen, the absence of a priority date on my Notice of Action is no cause for worrying? I honestly thought that USCIS uses these priority dates to decide the order in which cases are processed - I thought that cases with an earlier priority date are prioritized over later cases, and that all cases get a priority date...

Given that you were married to a US citizen (so a visa number is immediately available to you) then I doubt it's an issue. Most likely your case has been assigned a date, it just wasn't printed on your I-360.

Nothigicando can you post the email here? I believe you misunderstood their email, because the alien does not have to set up appointment with the local office. They will mail you the interview date.

Sandranj,

sorry, i didnt make my post very clear. I believe that you are right, I am not able to set up an apointment with the local office by myself and ask them give me an interview. I know they will mail me the interview date in someday.

However, Ombudsman did suggest me to make an appointment with infopass to obtain information about my interview. the following is the email from Ombudsman:

"Per USCIS, your file has been transferred to the XXX Field Office so that you can be scheduled for an interview. If you have not already been informed of the date, time, and place of your interview, please schedule an InfoPass appointment with your local USCIS Officehttp://infopass.uscis.gov/ so that you can speak with a USCIS Immigration Services Officer.

If you are unable to obtain information regarding your upcoming interview within the next 10 days, please contact us at cisombudsman@hq.dhs.gov and reference case number XXXXXX."

Hi all :)

I hope everyone had a nice and safe thanksgiving!

I hope i'm not distracting from this topic too much by asking the following question, but its regarding an I-360 cover letter. When I was applying for my I-130 and I-485, this forum was extremely helpful in allowing me to file these alone - especially when it came to the finer point of putting the final package together (not using staples or paperclips to separate different documents for example.) - Also the other point that was extremely helpful to see, were cover letters that went with each of these packages, and the specific wording used for each, and seeing how each package was broken down.

Is a cover letter required when filing VAWA too? If so, would it be possible for anyone to post, or message me their cover letters? I'm filing alone, and so as was with my 130 and 485, I would love to be able to see as many examples as possible - so I can feel a little more reassured that my cover letter is not only up to scratch and so that I can rest assured all the correct wording is there, but I have everything in the correct order, and that I'm ultimately not missing anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

AOS Journey

Day 0 - 07/10/2012 - AOS package (I-130,I-485, I-175) mailed to Chicago with FedEx.

Day 1 - 07/11/2012 - Confirmation from FedEx that package arrived and was signed for.

Day 3 - 07/13/2012 - Text confirmation from USCIS of receipt.

Day 4 - 07/14/2012 - Online banking shows that cheques were cashed.

Day 9 - 07/19/2012 - Received 3 out of 3 NOA letters in the post.

Day 11 - 07/21/2012 - Received biometrics appointment letter, appointed set for 08/07/2012.

Day 16 - 07/26/2012 - Completed biometrics walk in.

Day 56 - 09/04/2012 - Received text notification to state that my EAD has been ordered into production.

Day 59 - 09/07/2012 - Received 2nd text notification to state that my EAD has been ordered into production.

Day 62 - 09/10/2012 - Text notification that EAD has been mailed.

Day 64 - 09/12/2012 - EAD received in the mail.

Hi all,

Its been a good 10 months since I last post on here. All I can say, is when I was at the lowest point, and was struggling and overwhelmed with the idea of VAWA, Sandra was always the first to message me to offer help and advice, and for that I couldn't be more thankful. It has taken me all these months to get to my feet enough to finally be a point where I can file my VAWA, so this now has all of my attention. I have a few questions that i will be asking over the next few days, so I just wanted to apologise in advance for jumping in at any point.

I hope everyone is doing well and is staying safe, and everyones cases are progressing quickly and hopefully towards approvals!

Did you attend your AOS interview?

Did you attend your AOS interview?

Hi,

Yes I did attend the interview! I can't remember word for word what happened, but I remember I did post on here about the whole experience. Let me see if I can find the link and post it in here!

Here it is: If you scroll towards the bottom of this page in VAWA 3, its the longest post on the page. This explains everything that happened on the day.

Its funny, it's only reading back over it over, and trying to replay it in my head, that I realize just how bad my state of mind was at the time.

I got it now.

So you didn't file VAWA at that time (may be a year ago) and you're going to do now?

Anything happened during this 1 year I mean any letter from USCIS or anything.

Hi Sandranj,

I hope you remember me. I really need your help. I am freaking out now. My VAWA was approved on 5/8/2013. I applied for I-485 with my husband on 1/10/2012 and it was put on hold after I applied for VAWA on 4/2012. It has been 7 months since my VAWA was approved (the approval letter say they will notify me when the decision on my pending adjustment of status is reached) but I have not heard anything about my interview or even my filed moved to NBC. When I checked my case status on uscis website, it does not show any update. I called my lawyer because I'm worried she might receive something but did not bother to let me know or did not see the mail. She said i should wait for 15months because my approval letter says "this letter will work for 15 months????" I'm worried she might have lost my interview letter somewhere. What should I do now? Can you please show how to get the newest update on my file? At least where they are right now. I'm worried they might forget my case.

Apple 2013 your lawyer is wrong, you don't have to wait 15months. You have to inquire then make some noise, email all these people here.

1- https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Case.do- file an e-request today

2- Set up appointment with infopass to inquire about your file.

http://infopass.uscis.gov/

3-Email USCIS ombudsman to inquire about your case.mention when I-360 was approved, and mention when you filed I-485.

https://cisomb.dhs.gov/oca/form7001.aspx

4-Contact your congress person

http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

VAWA unit must transfer the case in 45 days to NBC , NBC should transfer to the local office in 30/45 days as well.
