I believe the only way to change your address on a VAWA case is to mail a notarised letter to VSC giving your name, alien number, date of birth, VAWA receipt number, old address and new address.

I will talk about my situation, my vawa was approved. I have a pending i485 and i765 I changed my address two weeks ago over the phone but officer, pretty nice and informative one, told me in order to comply with law requirements I had to to it online also. After I did it online I received a confirmation email. Again, this is for pending i485 and i765 not pending vawa

nicesky if the person was battered and have a bunch of proof bonadie marriage then 4/5pages may be enough, but if you are filing based in mental abuse then your affidavit should contain every single detail that you can remember of the abuse suffered ,and how you felt in each situation you were abused, and I beleive 4/5 pages is not enough for that,as I said before domestic abuse is easier to prove because the alien has the police report and then despite the alien has to explain he/she doesn't need to tell every single detail, but it's different when ling based in mental abuse. When I am handling a Vawa case I do not allow the person to submit an affidavit with less than 10 pages,I never got RFE in my cases.

I have many but MANY people here that filed their own Vawa or their lawyer filled and they RFE to prove bonafide marriage or to prove extreme cruelty ,most of the affidavits were short and not good, after getting all information I drafted 10/16 pages and they were approved without sending the more proof , it means the affidavits previous submitted were not good. It's very important an affidavit telling details of courtship, married life and abuse.

I got my VAWA approved in June and i applied for I-485 .The USCIS update says on October 2013 "The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office."

my questions are

which office it went to as immigration did not say anything(i live in chicago land) and

how long will it take to have my green card in my hand?

Also having my VAWA approved how i can get public benefits they mentioned in their letter?

Thanks all for helping me

I first got a message saying that my case when transfered to NBC then a week later I got that same message you wrote but them I had am info pass appointment and the rep check to see where my case was and he told me my case was still at NBC. I keep in constant contact with someone in this forum and we have around the same timeline and she got the same updates but was also told at an info pass that her case was still at NBC. I am really confused as to why we are getting this update and the cases are not at out local office but still at NBC. I have also seem other people here post the something so who knows maybe Sandranj can help us out.good luck with everything

Since your vawa is already approved you should not apply for public benfits because u will be considered a public charge. It takes anywhere from 2 months to who knows lol, there are people who have been waiting for 10 months and counting

thanks all for replying...so do u think i should ask for infopass and go ask where is my case in NBC or chicago?will that help?

second, regarding VAWA benefits,i heard that VAWA aliens are considered "qualified aliens" so I can still apply for public benefits without being considered public charge? Please correct me if i am wrong
