has any one got public benefits out of VAWA.I applied twice to medicaid and DHS in Chicago and they denied my application twice. Also I called the 800 number on the VAWA approval and they directed me to charity organizations which said they have no budget for helping VAWA victims.

Please share ur experience regarding getting public benefits like obamacare, foodstamps or others

Thanks

Excuse me vawavictim, but you have no right to disrespect anybody in here! Chabelita can say what she said cos you brought it upon yourself.go back and look at your past messages &imagine how annoying they are.so you asked questions like an amateur then within a few hours you became professional willing to answer all questions. Respect everyone here so you can get respect back.if we have to ignore someone, its not chabelita but its you. Be cool

Normally to receive medicaid benefits you have to be a qualifying alien for five years. You became a qualifying alien on the date of your first prima facia. Same is true with any federally funded benefit. There might be some exceptions state-to-state, but this is in generl: you must have been in a qualified status for five years to be approved.

The affordable healthcare act, aka, Obamacare, is a program where you can apply for medical insurance through an exchange and based upon your income you might receive reduced payments on insurance coverage.

jessyL her vawa was approved independentement of her priority date, and as far I know her husband is American then she has already a visa number available, the rule I mentioned before is to spouses of green card holders.

But my case was not in my local office, it was in Vermont. Where would I go for info pass? Vermont? I live in Florida!

Not that it matters for me anymore, but I'm really not sure if I could even do that.

yes, everyone's vawa case in vermont (as far as I understand from 600 pages thread that I read )))

The infopass in your local office, maybe it would have speed things up. At least that is what the lawyer told my sis to do.

But in her case the abuser was trying to change the address on her paperwork (long story and irrelevant)

Anyway they told her to go here in CA and tell them that her vawa was approved and ask them to mail the case here from Vermont.

I ll post if it was helpful or not.

Thank you for good wishes ))

We on same boat I couldn't find my receipt so I'll call tomorrow to inquire about ead. I don't know about you rohy but I signed up for emails, and I received notice when case went to NBC, then when it was transfered and then when case arrived to local office... You might want to try and call to ask, not sure how it works once it leaves Vermont, however if you were notified of transfer didn't they gave you a number to call for

Questions or address changes???

Jessy L infopass will not help your sister case at all.First cause they are not allowed to discuss l360 with anyone, not even with your sister, second vawa unit ships all files to the local office or NBC without the alien requiring that.If your sister in in San Diego vawa unit is taking 5months to transfers to the local office.

oh wow

No, we are in LA office.

Oh, so what exactly lawyer told her: go and ask exactly where her I-485 case is. because lawyer can inform that office that my sis's I-360 has been approved and that she would like another interview for the green card.

(in her case she had the case of her I-485 in GA, and she moved back with me to CA)

uscis on the interview (when my sister came without husband and said that she will file the abuse) uscis told her to send paper work with i-360 to vermont, and once she did so, my sister will need to send the proof to the GA office so they will keep the file open.

So I guess they still have her file in GA, and she needs her i-485 in LA,CA
