Oh- Good to know I'm not alone on this, that's exactlY what I told the worker.it makes no sense. From her blank explanation, the 5year mark starts counting ONLY from the day your green card is issued, so even if you have been in the US for 7years without a green card, it still doesn't count. So basically the PF for "benefits" is useless.even renewing my licence is a battle cos the workers just seem to lost and has to start running around to get their supervisor to help them with the prima facie.so I've decided not to go through that stress for this 60days PF extension.

Wondering after VAWA approval, one gets GC for how many years?

Also, for good moral character, do we have to have the police reports?

Is it needed from all the places we lived in US?

Do I need to go to those police stations personally or I can write to them?

Whats the process to get such reports and how many days it takes?

Thank You !

Back&brighter, I believe whatever the duration of the GC(which I believe it might be 2-5yrs) if you were married to a USC, you can apply for citizenship after 3years but if to a LPR its after 5years. As for Good moral character, you need "police clearance certificate" not reports except if you had a felony or such, then you must get all documentations concerning the crime etc.. To get them? You can either go in person or write and mail to them with photocopies of your DL, notorized SScard, personal check for the fee, your application must contain FULL address, county etc of where you lived(call your local police station to get more details). I got mine within 14working days. But your local police station will fill you in better cos it might differs. Hope this helps

back&brighter Vawa filers get permanent Green card (10 years), and they can apply for naturalization after 2.9 months, and those with I-751 approved with base in extreme cruelty can apply for naturalization after 2.9 months as well.

Get police clearance of every place you lived in the US more than 6months. Some places will give the police clearance right away, but most places it may take 3/5 days.
