Blame the Chinese for inventing gunpowder.

Without the Chinese we'd see mass archery killings; which could be somewhat time consuming and hard to conceal. ;)

Remember, it's not the bow that kills, its the arrow.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Society is decaying in some ways and areas. To some, human life means nothing. If someone calls you a name, kill them.

and Bingo that is the problem. when I was a child everyone had guns. People brought them to school for show and tell. Yet we did not have all this insanity

So ask yourself what has changed. Guns have not changed so thinking banning them will eliminate the root problem is insane.

All the mention of Decay.. Lets not forget we have almost 20 years of property crime decreases and violent crime decreases.. 2013 will most likely be an exception but still pretty amazing while going through a tough recession.

I don't think that banning guns is going to cure the problem. I was taught at a very early age that you did not point a gun at a person. There was no playing around with guns. Yet I did play with toy guns and I knew the difference. The thought never entered my mind to shoot someone because I was angry or that wronged me. The thought still doesn't enter my mind. Self defense and defending your family is different.

From what I see today, there is a fair percentage of the population with no common sense. Or brains.

Update: 17 people shot total. http://fox2now.com/2013/06/11/14-shot-one-stabbed-in-violent-night-in-st-louis-city/

One person was stabbed as well, it's a miracle no one has been killed.

We should just make shooting people illegal.

Actually discussion is bordering on political - it has veered into considerations of the American approach to firearm ownership and use based upon 2nd amendment rights and how legislation could or could not work to make gun owners more responsible.

Initially, yes, the topic was more appropriate for Off Topic and if I had read the report earlier before all of the following discussion, it would have been moved there. As it has turned into a somewhat politically based topic, I am going to leave it here.

Hopefully, we will have this forum properly soon renamed so that it will included political, religious, current events and other 'hot topics under its aegis and we won't have to worry about this type of division in the same way any longer.

My guess is someone reported it. I don't think anyone reads our comments. devil.gif I think the regulars know why we do this since so many threads get moved from here to OT to die a quick death. I merely was trying to point out the lack of rationale or reason to the way threads are moved around here.
