As far as I know it takes a few days for the medical results to be send to the Embassy so I don't think it's possible to have an interview the next day. This is actually what I have been told as well and we have to expedite my visa.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I am sure you could accompany your son to the embassy.

IR1/CR1 Visa - DCF at London Embassy

April 16, 2013: Mailed out I-130

April 18, 2013: Date Petition filed
May 13, 2013: APPROVED!
May 22, 2013: Case Number received
June 3, 2013: Mailed out DS-230 & DS-2001
June 4, 2013: Medical Exam at Bentick Mansion
Unfortunately I have to re-do it in 6 + weeks as I was diagnosed with pneumonia
June 22, 2013 I traveled to the USA with the plan of returning to the UK, spoke to a Immigration lawyer and he told me to change my status and go the AOS route.
Since 2014 I am a permanent resident.

You're correct. It takes them a couple of days to have the results sent. The interview, going by recent timelines, seems to be about 3 - 5 weeks after the medical.

I mean, it's no guarantee! I've just been keeping an eye on people from packet 3 -> medical -> interview to try and calculate when I may get mine, so we can organise our move. It seems to me 3 - 5 weeks from medical looks about right at the moment, but it could change - depends on how busy they are! I hope it's within that window (I'm currently obsessing with the post delivery time for our Packet 3 so I can get an book the medical).

Im aware of the few days for Medical results to get to the Embassy. It was like that back in the Summer 2010.

In July 2010 We had our K1 and K2 Medicals one day and the following day had our Embassy Interview. Just needed to have on hand our Medical receipt.

Trying to see if anything has changed with that, in the last few years.

The OP seems to be going through NVC which is different than the K1 and DCF process. The interview will be scheduled by the NVC and won't depend on medical results arriving first. I suppose they could plan the medical for any time, even though the embassy would like the results there before interview day. The hold-up for getting results to the embassy is waiting for the lab report to come back on the bloodwork. The visa could not be approved on The Day, and you would be left wondering how long it would take them to get back to the file and match it with incoming medicals.

Anybody planning to accompany someone into the embassy ought to try to get on the official list by calling the embassy and making arrangements in advance.

Thx for the reply. It's good to see your still around helping others, very much appreciated Nich-Nick.

Just to be sure i have understood you correctly.

I will be able to schedule his medical and interview like i did the last time.

The plan has always been for my Son to follow me on to the States. Unfortunately due to Medical and Education, his K2 has now expired. All thats sorted now and we have a rough leaving date for back end of next year for him W000o!.

We are trying to just check everything out now, to ensure a smooth process.

Medical, police check, interview all need to be done again for this Step Child application.

Even down to his British Passport needs to be renewed (good job my Daughter noticed the expiry >.>)

My US Husband is going to do the step child application for him.

I will be flying back to England to oversee my Sons Medical and Embassy Interview, which is why im hoping we can get this done for him, all in one trip to London.

Check my siggy! We never did get over staying at the Norman Bates Motel *shudders* We really dont want to go back there tongue.png

So if you have any decent Hotel suggestions, please by all means, let me know.

Oh and we dont mind going Home and not knowing after the Embassy Interview.

We waited from the July until the November the last time we down there.

This is a different process than your K1. The path is much like a spouse visa because it will be a true immigrant visa. His age factors in so is he still a child by USCIS definition? http://www.visajourney.com/content/child

Read this page too http://www.visajourney.com/content/childpet

Assuming yes, Then all the greencard and visa paperwork happens at the NVC. Forms, documents, fees ...all to NVC. They assign the interview date. Once you get an interview, then pick a medical date. London expects these cases to do it well before the interview, but if you don't, you still get in the embassy for an interview because you have an appointment letter, right? I would follow the IR1/CR1 threads for all the NVC process tips and tricks of sending things there.

So at the London interview, all documents and such were sent to NVC, so there is nothing much to bring to the interview other than the passport and interview letter. The rest will come in the file from NVC straight to the embassy.

Hotel: we stayed at Lincoln House. It's a home/townhouse converted to a small hotel. Near the medical place too. If you call in person, they negotiate rates cheaper than posted on the website. They also held the luggage all day after checkout while we went to the embassy then toured Buckingham Palace, had dinner, etc.

Here's a map http://www.click2map.com/maps/nichnick/Embassy_London. It's the blue marker on Gloucester Place. Embassy and medical are marked too.
