I love lobsters and crabs. Seafood is one of the biggest things I miss about being in the Philippines. Even in LA, I can't easily find fresh whole fish that I like to eat. Even fish as tiny as a tilapia is commonly sold as fillet.

There are lots of people here that won't eat any seafood. It really blows my mind how people can just write off everything from the ocean. Like its all the same of something.

I'm not too big on crabs, but I do like Tilapia filets. I usually bread them in some panko crumbs and fry them in olive oil.

They're silly.

I see fresh catch almost everywhere in the PH. It's also a good experience to go to the market, pick the freshest fish among many, take it home, gut it, and cook it whole. My younger sisters used to compete at the dinner table as to who gets to eat the fish eyes and the fleshier parts of the head.

I prefer my tilapia whole and I have plenty of ways to cook it. Escabeche is one, also stuffing it with herbs and peppers before throwing it onto the grill.

I miss real lobstah rolls. I had one out here that I was told would be amazing but it was very disappointing. I wanted to cry.

I want a lobstah roll and some clam strips!

Have you tried Santa Monica Seafood Cafe? I wanna know if their lobster rolls are good.

One thing my wife loves about being in Mass on the coast is the fresh seafood. She is from Ontario and everything they had there was very expensive and nothing close to fresh.

On a side note I did have an excellent clam chowder at a Holiday Inn in Ontario. I was very skeptical, but pleasantly surprised.

When i was in Hong Kong last week, some of the fish at market were still trying to breath. Awesome.

usually, the best , freshest fish is sold at a 'wet market' and yes, the fish are in a tank, still breathing. you point, the hawker pulls.

My husband and I ate there a few years back. We had the clam chowder and battered fish. It was pretty good. Tasted really fresh. and the views were awesome.

fresh fish can be had on either coast. I'll suggest to anyone complaining about not finding it, you aren't looking at the right places.

Most times, you have to find a wholesale place that buys off the boat for resale

or

find the larger Asian market in your area - they always have fish in the tank still alive.
