I still have my basic Weber kettle grill I bought 20 years ago. For charcoal, Kinsford with hickory. Indirect heat and four or five hours will cook a nice sized shoulder or loin. But for pulled pork, forget that, I just use the crock pot on slow setting all day. I get the grilled taste in the meat just before I serve it, by rewarming it on a hot cast iron pan with a little canola oil. Of course, if I wanted full flavor instead of clear arteries, that refry would happen in pure lard.

Now, I have nothing against good slow smoked pork, but I just don't have the time to babysit a smoker all day.

The beauty of a Big Green Egg is that it is ceramic. You build the fire. Set the vents. And it will hold the temp many many hours. At least 14 or more. No adding wood or anything. I have put shoulders on at night and gone to bed. Next morning. Awesome slow smoked meat
