My wife said something about beans with breakfast. She said it was a British thing. I need to know more about this.

Heinz British beans. That's all. I suppose there are other brands. They are in a plain tomato sauce, no molasses or smoky stuff like American counterparts. I can get them at my grocery store. Look up "English breakfast."

Yeah I did earlier. Looks kinda cool, I'm down to try. I saw where a Canadian took her own approach with cheese covered toast with onions under the beans. Since they have tomato sauce, I'd prob be in. You could put a ####### in tomato sauce and I'd be in.

The beans are good, not like turds at all :(

My husband doesn't get the concept of breakfast food and it stresses him out when we travel. I think I can east a variety of things for breakfast, but some things are not for breakfast. Beans are fine (and good), anything bread is good, cheese, eggs. I could eat some bread and cheese, I could eat rice, I suppose. But especially in Israel, breakfast at a restaurant is often a cucumber/tomato salad, a coffee, and this nasty cheese which is like a yogurt, with olive oil drizzled on top. I really can't eat that for breakfast - it's so much acid and nothing to temper it.

I was in Italy last year and at my lodging this German woman said "We don't have american breakfast here, no eggs and bacons." She was really worried I'd be upset. I thought that was cute, and a bit gross. I don't want "eggs and bacons" every day for breakfast, blech. We got coffee, orange juice, and glazed croissants. Doable, but still too much acid.

I'm with you there, I rarely eat eggs and bacon. My wife makes eggs and tater tots, maybe sometimes hotdogs without the bun on the weekends but i think she only does that because she thinks that's what I want. But there's good odds she'll also make a more Hong Kong style breakfast like what I call macaroni noodle soup with ham slices or kongee with those long Chinese pastry thingies.

Run Away, Run Away !!

Best to counter with flapjacks, drop biscuits and heavy sausage buttermilk gravy. Pork Medallions optional wink.png

If'n she's looking to shift the breakfast, maybe she's looking to shift the husband, instead ?

for the real scoop, google 'full english breakfast', as beans on toast is just a part of it.

Good morning Peeps! How was everyone's Thanksgiving?

I just read back a few pages from where I left off on this thread and got a good laugh.

According to Penny's map, I now live in Connecticut. Eat your heart out Maven! laughing.gif

Spooky, I like Khan's hot dogs and Ball Park Franks.

I don't think I've ever had Khan's. I'll have to give them a try. I've been on a Kayem Beef Dog kick.

Damn, Kayem is what I meant, not Khan's, sorry. Kayem dogs are great, especially the natural casing ones. They're right here in Mass too.
