I am guess your in-laws are getting turned down coz somewhere in their application they mentioned about expecting a child.

In those cases CO would assume they are coming to help with the child birth, which prob is common in that part of the world.

I would say wait until child is born re-apply as grand parents want to go see the child and chances are they would be approved.

If you just love to argue, you can keep on arguing. I was just telling you how things work and was trying to help you.

Certain things are different for ppl from different countries… for example if your spouse was from UK there would be no problem for grand parents even if they were coming to do exactly same thing help with child birth.

Going back to your original post to remove the intent that still is not logical.

Congress make the law.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I wasn't trying to be argumentative. Just pointing out that the agency is administering the law contrary to the recommendations of the Inspector General and should be held accountable.

That could be a suggestion… none of the law maker would agree to open the flood gates.

Whichever law maker agress to open the flood gates at embassy around the world would his job that’s for sure.

So inspector general can make as much suggestion as he wants but ppl who want to travel to US will always have to overcome the intent, unless there is a major drop in number of ppl wanting to come to US.

Please take a look at my later post titled "Parent Visa." How would that be "opening the flood gates?" If the parents of a green card holder, soon to be naturalized citizen, could come live here permanently within a few years then what harm would it do to let them come here for a visit before that? If you assume they will stay illegally, even beyond the safeguards that could be built into the system, then the worst case scenario would be that they would get here a little early. Congress is currently considering a legalization process for millions so I'm not sure why the debate in Congress should be considered so pure that there would be concern against opening flood gates.

The legalization is only considered by congress as that was one of the reasons why dems won the election, they want to make sure they would have that vote bank in future. Its all about vote bank nothing else.

They are not discussing about changing any other process, also there are lot of other factors and groups specially Mexican and Spanish groups asking govt to work for their folks and allowing them to continute to stay in US.

First your spouse is not even USC, there are parents and siblings of USC already waiting in line and for some the waits are over 7-8 years or even more.

Lot of them are not granted visa as if they are granted than lot of them choose not to go back to their home country.

Congress is debating "comprehensive" immigration reform - not solely vote bank.

My wife is a green card holder (permanent resident) and will be a citizen in just a few more years. Then her parents could get an immigrant visa to come live here.

Immediate relatives don't wait in line:

“Immediate relatives” of a U.S. citizen, defined as one’s spouse, unmarried children under the age of 21, and parents, always have a visa number immediately available

Other family (other than immediate) are limited each year so they wait in line.

You said before her parents have never travelled anywhere. Maybe they should go on another trip somewhere closer, but outside their country and try again.
