Hello everyone,

Well my girlfriend and I will be applyiing for our F1 visa in a couple of days and in the DS-160 form we will be filling our martial status as ''SINGLE'' since legally we are single at the moment.

However, we are planning to get married before we leave the country (sometime in mid august). Now the thing is, we would already have received our F1 visa's by then (hopefully if not rejected). Do we need to inform the visa consulate and tell them that we are married NOW and not SINGLE anymore ??. or wil that not be necessary ???

Thanks

kushan

Thanks everyone.

Ofcourse i will be honest with all questions but its just that I want to know whether I need to inform the consulate or visa authorities (or some other statutary body) that i am married now ?? or does that not matter at all.

There is no requirement to inform the consulate about your marriage.

Would you be engaged when she would go for the interview? Just wondering since your interview and wedding dates are close.

Be prepared to be questioned during AOS - you might be since dates would be so close.

No, we will not be legally married before either of us go for our interviews.

There would be no need for an AOS since both of us would be attending universities on US visas, right ??

thanks.

Sorry was thinking something else yes on F1 you do not have to do AOS.

I meant was you if you two are entering togeather than you might be questioned at POE if officer thinks there is somthing going on since your application and marriage dates are close and both applying to same school etc.
