Actually I agree with Steven on this.

And I don't see how you can call it rape if you agree to it. To me, rape implies something you aren't willing to do.

I think that definition of rape is too narrow. If someone says they will kill your husband (as has been mentioned before, ie. Robin's head on the chopping block) if you don't have sex with them. You would not define that as rape because there was consent? And if so, then the person who gave you that ultimatum has done nothing wrong - they had consent.

This is an interesting moral dilemna. I remember a similar question posed to me in catechism (Catholic religious study) as a kid. It went like this - if someone told you to spit on a crucifix of Jesus or they'd kill you, what would you do? Apparantly my answer (spit on it and live) was not the correct one as I was told I was betraying Jesus. I'll have to ask my Dad about that one again (he's an ordained Deacon) because obviously a person's free will is compromised at that point.

I would agree though that if Maid Marion believed she had no other option and that it was imperative not just for her own self interests but for others that Robin Hood be released, that she did the right thing by sleeping with the Sheriff.

Here's where I get stuck. I always considered Robin Hood a great guy so if he called her a #######, I'd pause for a moment and wonder why my hero thinks of her that way. Perhaps he knows more about Maid Marian than the story lets on?

The instructions did state to ignore any preconceived notions you have about the characters. Therefore, I assumed that Robin calling Marion a ####### was in direct repsonse to her sleeping with the Sheriff in order to free him. Wouldn't you agree that that's deplorable?

ETA: I can sympathize with the Catholic view on this (as you may be able to tell from my previous posts). One is not absolved of responsibility simply because they were forced into it.

I was just going to reply on that aspect seeing as though many selected Little John high in ranking.

Little John: I thought his move looked suspicious, almost like he was waiting for a chance to *score* with Maid Marion, and now that his best friend was out of the picture, it was his chance to get with this maid that is somewhat carefree in her sexuality not to mention the fact that Maid Marion was probably heartbroken and Little John was probably playing his cards on her sad state

RH : he has a right to be pissed that his woman spent the night with someone else regardless of the circumstances... what if they were only sentanced for a week??

I said Robin Hood is worse than the Sheriff because the Sheriff had less moral obligation to Marion than Robin Hood did. IMO Robin Hood is the lowest of the low...

That's where I'm confused because the Sheriff is the jackass who threw Robin Hood and Little John in prison in the first place. How do you know he didn't do it just to get into Marion's panties?
