POE when flying from Manila to San Diego via Tokyo

I'm researching which POE to use and i found a good flight from Manila to Tokyo to San Diego. Are there known problems for my fiancee to fly JAL, and change in Tokyo on the way here? It's a great flight for her time and distance wise, and i heard better things about SD POE than LAX, so the question is just if anyone knows of any problems going through Tokyo - special permission or clearances needed, anything like that?

i have a friend who flew MNL-NRT-JFK.. there was no problem.. except that at that moment NRT didnt have AC and it was so hot... no special permission or clearance since they wont be leaving the airport.. but better check with airlines .. double check...

for your fiancee why not try PAL direct flight MNL to LAX. less hassle. less problem for you and her... about 12 hr flight

A couple of reasons why, i live in San Diego (no big deal though to go to LAX) but i heard LAX is more hassle and also i do have some airmiles i can use to get the flight virtually for free even with just about 4 days notice, enough airmiles for business class for her which will be a nice treat.

I'll check with the airline though, thanks for the advice. The lack of AC won't bother her much i think - i'm the one that needs AC, she always feels cold even when it's too hot for me!

I've done that route, with JAL, and it is a very painless flight. I highly recommend it. The Tokyo airport is hassle free if you are just connecting through there. And San Diego has good POE reviews.

I live in San Diego as well and was asking myself the same question. Delta has some great prices on one way tickets ($758) to San Diego (SAN) from Manila (MNL) with a short stop over in Tokyo (NRT). I was going to use Philippine Airlines from MNL to LAX since there are no stop overs. However, if the POE experience is better in San Diego and the stop over in Narita won't be a hassle I think I'll go with Delta.

I never knew that SAN could be a POE, I never saw immigration line there but TSA only. Anyways, LAX is just fine but long line
